Earl preston, whiteford septic and Chesapeake Bay septic services are all owned by the same owner. I have worked with the companies since 2018, when we had a new septic system installed at our home, and have always been very pleased. Staff has been wonderful, polite and professional.until Chesapeake sent us a contract renewal in March when we had just renewed in november.
During this November renewal, Chesapeake was to come and inspect our system and report it to the county. We signed a contract, we paid them, they reported to the county that they came out but never did. When I called to explain that there must be a mistake in having to renew our annual contract 4 months after renewing it, Kelsey informed me that she had sent me a contract but I never returned it.
I informed Kelsey that I'm a responsible human being and I would have not let the slip through the cracks as we would have been not in compliance with the health department if I did. Kelsey, I'm sure upset because someone has told her she is wrong, decided to tell me that I was maybe not so responsible this time and that she didn't have a contract from me so I must not be telling the truth.
I repeatedly asked her to look for the payment that was sent in early November and she refused, , still accusing me of lying and being irresponsible. Now, I did inform Kelsey that if I had to hang up the phone and call my husband and have him stop doing his job so that he could do her job and find the payment that we sent in November, I was not going to be happy. Still, I hung up and did just that.
In the middle of my two and a half minute conversation with my husband Kelsey called back happy to tell me that the payment should be easy to find because it was a MasterCard. Cluing me into the fact that she found it in the less than 3 minutes that we had been off of the phone. I'm boiling at this point. I made an appointment to have it inspected and explained to Kelsey that I believe that the contract that I paid for in November should start that day since they failed to honor it and that I should not have to renew my contract until March of next year. Kelsey told me she'd have to have her office manager call me back.
I asked that she gave me 15 minutes to calm myself down. 4 hours later, I call the company to speak with the manager. Peggy gets on the phone and, very rudely and defensively informs me that they're human and they make mistakes and that I should not have gotten upset. She then tells me that she's going to inspect my system, refund my money and tell me to find another company.
I hung up the phone and was completely floored. This company had made a mistake, called me irresponsible and a liar, found my payment in less time that it took me to call my husband and have him walk out of his job to do so. AND THEN fired me as a client because I was expressly upset at this. The only thing I could think of that could make this scenario true is that peggy, the office manager is Kelsey's mother!
After a little investigation, because, yes I was this Disturbed over this. I found out that she, in fact, was. DOUG! I WAS FIRED AS A CLIENT BECAUSE SOMEONE'S MOTHER REFUSED TO REPRIMAND THEIR CHILD who clearly made a mistake and then blamed it on the client. I can only imagine how many people have been fired for being rude to Peggy's daughter

Had a fantastic experience with this company. We scheduled to have our tank pumped within the week but we were having leaking pipe issues. Called a few days before the appointment to see if they could come out earlier. They came out that day and still charged the normal price. Other companies wanted to change $200-$300 more for an emergency pump. The guy that came out to actually pump was beyond helpful.
This is the first time we have owned a home with a septic tank and he was more than helpful with telling us what to look for and other tips. Can not say enough wonderful things about the great service that was provided.

Our 50 year old septic system failed and due to a high water table we needed a very complex solution. We couldn't be more pleased with the work Preston did to install it. Their pricing was competitive, the work was done on time, and the workers were super courteous and respectful. I had ZERO issues when they were finished. Talk about good old customer service! I will definitely use them again.

We recently sold our house that had the original septic equipment from 1980-81. The distribution box was extremely corroded and needed to be replaced per our buyers home inspection. I call Earl Preston and Whiteford Septic because of the reputation they have around the northern Harford county area. Not only did they live up to their reputation they exceeded it by leaps and bounds.
Super courteous, very respectful, efficient, timely and the list goes on and on. You are a fool if you choose any septic company other than Earl Preston jr. Oh and by the way I had estimates from two other companies in the area, Earl Prestons was around 1/3 the cost of the other two companies. Can't say enough good things about this company and their people.

When we moved into our home I thought I recalled being told to empty the tank every 8 yrs or so. Found out it should be done every 2 to 3 years. Needless to say we were full. Whiteford showed up early, tech name was Dave. He got started and told me it was a mess but he would get it. He did just that. Dave also took time as he was draining to explain everything to me about my septic system and how it works as well as timely maintenance. He was respectful and a good guy. Definitely recommend Whiteford Septic Service.

We have been a customer for 6 years now and have always been happy. Today Bobby came by to do tank pump. He took time to look things over as always but found an issue this time. He also explained how things worked and helped me understand what was going on. We called to set up a fix and Peggy worked extra late to get us a very reasonable proposal and get thing rolling so we would not be down any longer than we had to be. This is service and support you don't find these days and we were reminded why we stay loyal. Would definitely recommend!

I was in process of purchasing a home that had a failing septic system and needed a perk test done to determine the location and type of replacement system would be required. Doug, Peggy, Jen, and the staff were all great with getting a date and scheduling with the county. This includes helping the county provide me an expedited test date. They answered all my questions, listened to my concerns, and presented an estimate that was very reasonable.
The perk test and county information were also provided from them. Peggy and Jen would call or email me with the answers to my questions, any information on the testing, and provide new system details. Doug personally came out again after hours and helped me design the yard for a driveway and future pool location. I cannot say enough about their customer service, honesty and listening. Outstanding group! I would recommend them to anyone who needs their services. Thanks again Doug and staff. Mark S.

I am so happy I chose Earl Preston/Whiteford to fix my septic system. I've used them the last 10 years to do routine pumps but had to call on them to solve an issue. They were quick to respond, friendly and educated me along the way. The team who came out to do the work were amazing and kept me informed about findings as they worked. Really can't speak highly enough about them.

Jesse was the technician sent over to drain my septic. Before he arrived a car drove through my retaining wall and drove off, leaving my driveway littered with cement blocks that I couldn't lift by myself. He hopped right out of the truck a introduced himself and started moving the blocks. I was so grateful. This is my second time working with this company, the serviced my septic 2 years ago, and gave us the "you're new to septic briefing". So I will 100% use their service again and would highly recommend them if you need septic service.
