I had been using Statewide Fence for years ( back when Joyce's father was running the business ) but switched to OK Fence for my last project. The people at OK Fence were great. They could not start work right away ( any good fence company is always busy ) but the repair I needed on the second tongue and groove fence bought from and installed by Statewide was not an emergency. OK Fence came out to my house a day or two later, quoted the job, and I was placed on their schedule.

Very straightforward and totally professional. Their crew came back in a couple of months to complete my job and all went well. I will be using this fence company from now on. The biggest problem with Statewide Fence is their arrogant attitude and unprofessionalism. Raphael, their point man for customer service, is clueless in that department. Since he has been there for nearly 30 years, he should be more skilled in servicing past customers for Statewide instead of driving those long term customers away to other companies.

He causes drama where none exists. He is certainly not an asset to the company if customers are compelled to go elsewhere after dealing with him. The negative reviews about Statewide seem to center on their staff, not their products or the workers who install them which should be a wake up call for that company. I also think Statewide pays attention when they think you are worth paying attention to.

My last cedar fence cost $12,000 and the installation went well.they were very responsive. However, as the years went by and the fence started to lean and the heavy double gate needed repairs, they really wanted no part of maintaining the very expensive fences they install. Instead of telling you to go fly a kite, you get sarcastic Raphael who just ignores your calls. Statewide Fence thinks they are doing you a favor if they decide to take your money for an expensive fence repair. Lou and all the installers have always been fine but Raphael has been a consistent jerk.

There are many good fence companies in Rhode Island and neighboring Massachusetts. Give your hard earned money to a company that will be responsive, respectful, and professional.not Statewide Fence.

Contacted Statewide and was able to get Raf to come out and give me an estimate within a reasonable amount of time. The process was straight forward, paid a deposit of half and was told I would be contacted once the weather broke in early spring. Raf scheduled me quickly and the removal of the chain link fence and installation of the cedar fence were smooth. Had an issue with a neighbor and the installation guys (Domingo and another guy) were VERY calm and professional while being yelled at (through NO FAULT of theirs). The fence is BEAUTIFUL and I am so happy! Raf was easily contacted during the process and very responsive. Will definitely use them again!

- I ordered five Activeyards Dogwood 8ft. vinyl fence sections, eight 5x5 posts, and a gate to replace an existing wooden fence. - The fence had one transition section from 6 ft. to 4 ft. - On the morning of my installation, I called Statewide Fence Builders and spoke with Joyce (owner) to confirm that I did not need the Activeyards transition brackets for the transition section.

She said "no, " and then I asked "what is the on-center measurement of the 5x5 posts, " and she replied "96 inches on center." - I installed ALL the posts and bottom rails in concrete at 96" as told by Joyce (owner). - The next morning I installed the first two 4 ft. sections successfully. - Next, while installing the transition section, I realized I was one tongue/groove panel short.

There were only 14 tapered panels in the bundle, instead of 15 panels like the two previous 8 ft. sections, and the top rail was too short to fit in the routed post holes. It then clicked. that specific transition section needed to be set at 90" on center to accommodate the one less panel and angled top rail shorter distance span due to angle. - So, I called my salesperson Raphael, who basically said I should have "figured it out." I then contacted the owner Joyce, and said, "move your last 2 posts." Unfortunately, the posts were concreted into the ground and would have required a ton of additional labor to remove the three sections and start all over. - Raphael, the salesman, never mentioned during the order process that the transition section was unlike normal sections, the packing list and materials didn't have any warning of 90" for the transition section.

Most importantly THE OWNER told me 96" for ALL posts minutes before starting the fence project. - I asked for a minimal refund of the price of only the transition section, for the incorrect information given to me, and the time and aggregation of having to reengineer the top rail to make it work. - Joyce (owner) NEVER replied to me email. - Overall, absolutely the worst customer service. Learn from my lesson, don't waste your hard-earned money at Statewide Fence Builders, Inc.

A drunk driver took out 200 feet of my front lawn fence. Louie came right out to get everything moving. The fence was just installed last week and looks terrific! The workers were very respectful and courtous and professional. Raphael in the office is awesome too! Highly recommend!

Called three times.once, left message for Raphael, no call back. Second time, spike to Genevieve, sent video of what I needed, told me she would talk to someone and send quote, nothing. Called again, no call back Time to move on

Easy to call and get in contact with someone. Joyce the rep helped me with my appointment to quote the fencing of my home. Surely enough a field rep got in contact with me and showed up on time! Thus far staff have been very professional and respectful.

This is a first for me.2 weeks ago I made an appt. to meet "louie" and they made the appt. for a Tues, I called to ask if they appt. would still stand as snow was forecasted, they said that Louie would call me, so I went to the location, one of my rentals, and no show, no phone call. I called them, no answer, they called me the next day and said that they cannot come out until the end of the season. I called them back and said "I will NEVER do business with a company like yours", the cocky phone girl said"ok", can you imagine what a low class business that is?

Statewide Fence Builders came to quote what will be a $25,000 job. For one section, a 50 yd span of plain 48 black chain link, the quote was $5,000. The project is at my mother's home as part of a much larger landscape project. I was unable to attend the meeting, I am in the industry and was appalled by the estimate and the treatment she received from the agent.

At one point she was told to go to Home Depot. Another estimate for the same spance with an additional gate was a full $3,000 less. I will NOT be recommending Statewide Fence or using them on any future projects and will in fact be warning people not to use them.

I would like to share my great experience with anyone looking to hire a fence builder. I'm a contractor/carpenter so it wasn't easy finding a fence company that would work to my expectations but I can honestly say they exceed my expectations with a beautifully custom wooden fence & decorative black aluminum puppy picket fence. This is a very professional operation and I highly recommend them. Thank you for a great job Louie and the staff!
