Huckleberry Fence & Deck Co. was formed in the fall of 1996. All Huckleberry Fences are nailed with 2 galvanized nails in a straight line pattern. No Staples! We know you will appreciate the extra time, effort, and superior materials we use to build your cedar/wood and metal fence. New clients often say that our fences stand out in the crowd; when they explore the neighborhood for ideas, they consistently choose our fences. That same signature look is the drive behind our burning desire to come up with a Huckleberry design for decks.

I used to think Huckleberry Fence and Deck was overpriced but did quality work. Now I think that they're overpriced, perform poor quality work, and treat customers like garbage. All it took for me to come to this realization, was to become a customer. My neighbor hired Huckleberry to move a fence closer to the property line. Huckleberry had originally built the fence in 2016 four feet away from the property line (that's a different story). Michael, their foreman, didn't seem to grasp the goal and proposed multiple shortcuts which made no sense including leaving portions of the trespassing fence in place.
I asked if they would remove the old posts including the concrete and they said they would cut off the posts and mound dirt on top of the concrete. I guess that's faster but I wasn't too excited about having concrete stumps four feet off the property line. The 2 man crew installed a used post (covered in reciprocating saw marks and stain), and when I noticed it they said they meant to turn it the other way.
When I asked them to replace it they said they didn't have another one and would come back another day (presumably after the concrete had set). After I gave them a post that I had, Michael the foreman refused to compensate me for its cost and told me I was stupid for buying it at Jerry's. We had a tree in the property line. Michael the foreman assured me that they would be able to beautifully incorporate the tree into the fence (they are Huckleberry after all).
What they actually did was leave a uneven and large (6 in plus) gap on either side of the tree. Kinda defeats the point of a privacy fence having a gap that size. Save your money find a better contractor. These guys are as bad as I've ever seen.

I'm not surprised at all to see other negative reviews about this company after their work at my home today. Would give zero stars if I could. DO NOT USE this company if you want a fence built in a timely and professional manner! They happily collected our deposit and then pushed us back every two weeks for SIX MONTHS. Received a call yesterday that they were coming today.
We've waited for months only to have had issue after issue with the work throughout the day. They went out of their way to look for shortcuts-examples include using a used (and stained an entirely different color than our fence) post, and not even screwing in an entire fence panel. We needed to accommodate a tree along the fence line and the work is shoddy to be polite.
It looks awful (uneven, a huge gap on one side) and doesn't have any structural integrity-when asked to fix it, they cut and run. Actually left and refused. They also refused to compensate us for the new fence post of ours that they used when the stained and pre-used one they brought and installed wouldn't do. I would NEVER RECOMMEND this company and hope this review saves someone the time, headache and expense of hiring them. There are several other fence building companies in Eugene/Springfield to choose from if professionalism, integrity, and the quality of your fence matter to you.

Do not sign a contract with Huckleberry Fence and Deck. 1) They did not build my fence to spec and have refused to fix it. 2) They did a terrible job building the fence. It is not straight, or holding up well after 6 months. 3) The gates do not work after 3 attempts at fixing them over several months. 4) They stood on my hot tub cover and got stain on it.
They said they couldn't move the hot tub to get access to the fence because it was too heavy. So they climbed and walked on the hot tub cover to stain fence. I moved it for them. 5) They lied to me on multiple occasions. Everyone in the organization seems to lie and to act disingenuously. 6) They said they would immediately fix problems and build a small additional section of fence and then did not give me a contract for months and then said they lost my contact information (other people have complained of this, a convenient excuse). 7) They said they would sand an old bench of mine next to the fence to make up for the problems and to say sorry. they never did it. 8) Everyone blamed each other and no one would take responsibility, including Michael the foreman and Mike Anson the owner. 9) I have spent probably 20 hours dealing with them. 10) I plan on taking them to small claims court.
Probably another waste of my time, but they are so bad that I don't want another homeowner to go through this. It has been extremely aggravating. 11) I don't think they care at all about customer satisfaction. 12) The death of their company is near.

Had an appointment to meet with the estimator (Michael) today at Noon to replace my deck. I know people are busy, so I expressed that I appreciated them fitting me in to their schedule. I Left work with plenty of time to get to the house with a few minutes to spare. On my way to the house I (at 11:50) I received a text that the estimator had already shown up, left his card with one of the kids at home and left the premises. Did not call me, did not wait until the scheduled time we were to meet.
When I arrived at the house (before noon) I called the number on the card and talked to a woman who said she would call the estimator and get right back to me. I waited for 15 minutes and called her back. I left a voice mail stating that I left work for this and was still waiting. If someone could please call me and let me know if the estimator was coming back. I waited another 10 minutes and went back to work. Never received a call back from them. This was a huge waste of my time

Huckleberry Fence and Deck really helped me out. I got in over my head with a fence project, and they were able to come out in a matter of a few days, and get the job done. The two employees i worked with, Mike, and Cody, were great. Would recommend, and they'll be the first i call for any future fencing needs.

I used Huckleberry Fence to build a beautiful, well-built fence 20 years ago and then again 6 years ago. Apparently, they have had a new owner for the last 5 years, and his work is not up to the same standard as before. The biggest problem we had was that the new owner came to our house, promised to restore our previously beautiful fence to its original quality after it was damaged by a falling tree during the ice storm, saying that it would be fixed to its original quality.
I also needed three 4x4 posts replaced and reset. He said he would do that, too. He then required a $925 down payment with another $925 due on completion. $1850 is an exorbitant amount for a simple fence repair, but we thought we were going to get the best. As is turned out, the guys finally came and worked for about an hour and 1/2, did not replace any posts, and did a repair job that was okay, but pretty minimal.
In the end, they did finally take $300 off the bill for the 3 posts which they had bid for but did not use. When I asked why the fence wasn't restored to its original quality, they told me that to do that they would have to move the entire fence 6 inches. Obviously, I wasn't going to allow them to touch the parts of the fence that were not damaged!
Bottom line, the workers were very kind and tried to do their best, but the boss seemed to have made a bid way beyond what they intended to deliver. It didn't appear that he had communicated with the workers about what was expected. Overall, we paid was too much for a simple repair.

I called Huckleberry out to my house for a quote on a new fence and deck. I was greated by the new owner himself whitch he was kind enough to answer all my questions. After i desided to hire them, there supervisor Timothy showed up with severial others and began to work. Before i knew it my fence was built, and my deck was on its way. Through out this whole project there supervisor Tim explained every step of the way making me feel apart of the team. I want to

6 years ago Huckleberry Fence built a fantastic fence for me and at that time I would have given them 5 stars. Now I have to give them 1 star. I wanted another fence built so of course thought of them. They came out to look at the job and never got back to me with a bid. I've called them 4 times and never received a reply. Look elsewhere for fencing

Didn't even get work done. Was strung along for a month and a half, just trying to get a estimate. Had someone out to my house, was told I would hear back in a couple days. Turned into a couple weeks. Call no answer, leave a message with no return call. Finally talked to someone via email. Got a little run around with the must of had the wrong contact info. Gave all correct info in next email and was told okay, we'll get that quote right to you.
That was about 2 weeks ago. Still nothing. 2 stars instead of 1 just because the guy was really nice when he was out at my house. Update: After seeing your response. I gave an honest review of my experience because this is what this is for. How would you expect someone to react after that? I was very patient and nice but there comes a point where it's kind of ridiculous. I had no problem waiting, but was just kept in the dark.

I'll start with the facts. An 8-foot section of our fence fell down. The posts holding it up snapped during a storm. Huckleberry quoted $1200 to fix it, insisting that not only that 8' section, but the adjacent two 8' sections needed to be completely pulled and replaced too and installed new. So they quoted us $1200 for installing 24' of new fence.
They couldn't just install new posts and re-hang the existing fence (nothing was wrong with it)? No, they could not. We begrudgingly accepted and paid them half up front in advance, $600, as they requested. Six weeks later, after several followup calls and emails asking them what their status was, two men finally show up and start work. The two men dig out the old posts, install two new posts and re-hang the existing fence.
Before they left for the day I came out and specifically asked the two men if this was temporary or not, because the estimate was to replace that section entirely (and the two adjacent). They replied no, it's not temporary, that their supervisor said the portion that fell down was reusable so they were going to do that and consider it good, aside from coming back later to do a few additional touch-ups.
I replied that I'm perfectly fine with them reusing the fence instead of installing new, and that's what I wanted all along. However, they charged us to do a substantially larger job, so could they please revise the price downwards. The owner later follows up and claims that no no, what their guys did was temporary after all. Further, he states that simply installing those two posts and re-hanging the existing fence cost his company more than $600 right there, but they'll cut us a break and call it good at $600. So, they're keeping all of the deposit.
Now for my thoughts: they seem pretty unethical. They puffed the job up as being much bigger than it needed to be so they could charge us more, then their guys missed the memo and did a much smaller (and more reasonable) job, and then when I pointed that out, they backpedaled and doubled down and tried to grab as much of the money as possible. Poor communication internally, poor communication with customers, and either so confused they don't realize it how shady this looks or they're simply run-of-the-mill dishonest and don't care how it looks.

Huckleberry fence just completed a big job for me. I just purchased my new home in May 2016. I called them for an estimate. They worked with me and my budget. They made cost saving suggestions without losing the beauty of the fence and deck. I told them the finished project is the nicest thing I have ever owned. They worked every day until the whole project was complete. Thank you! I love it!

Huckleberry is under new ownership, and unfortunately it is a shadow of its former self. Under the former owner, the company built a span of fence facing the street from my house to the property line: beautiful! After 6 years or so, a section of the fence popped its bracket, probably due to changes underground. I contacted the company 3 months ago, and Chris, who manages the fencing operation, came out and discussed the repair with me but said he needed to clear it with the owner.
Since then, Chris has put me off repeatedly, several times making an appointment and then not following up, frequently telling me he would get back to me in a day or two and then failing to do so. I finally contacted another company, which came out and did the quick repair today. I'm writing this in the hope that the owner of Huckleberry, whose name is not on the business card, will see this and have a talk with Chris about how to treat customers.

Excellent results. Beautiful Fence. Wonderful experience. Not every contractor you meet in life has integrity. Brad Cook at Huckleberry Fence does what he says he will do. He finishes the job when he says he will finish it. The job is finished as promised or better. Prices don't change mysteriously. Materials used are as promised. Clear communication at all times. No lingering questions or concerns when the fence is finished. High recommend him to anyone.

We (All Legitimate Business Owners) Know, there's only a couple of Fence Companies here in the Local Area that hold true to the Craftsmanship, Skill and Ownership or Pride it takes to separate themselves from the rest of the world, and that's Huckleberry. Contrary to what some people might say, , which there are plenty, who want to make a statement without all the facts, knowledge, or understanding such as Jimmy. But. for all of us that work ourselves to the bone for you, the client, our friends and our family, Let it be known. Michael@ASFironworks Inc.

From start to finish Huckleberry Fence Co. was amazing! We looked at a lot of companies in Eugene and Huckleberry was better and stronger than almost everyone and the bonus.they looked better than anyone as well! We have had our fence now for 5 years and decided to re-treat it again and it looks like it's brand new. Built to last in everyway(foundation to the size/type of wood) this is truly an investment in your future. I have to warn you though.we had people knocking on our door for almost three months asking us about our fence and who built it.it really is that good! Thanks Brad!

I'm a bit of a landscaping freak when it comes to pimping out the yard with a nice rock wall, sharp looking fence or a well thought out planting scheme. I regularly walk neighborhoods just to check out these very things and fortunately South Eugene has more than a few. I'll even stop the car on errands or go an extra 10 blocks just to check something out again. I've haven't had a Huckleberry Fence made for me yet but I see their work everywhere and I like it.
These guys must be doing like 90% of the nice wood fence jobs in town, it's freaking ridiculous. The cheesy little metal signs tacked to a corner of the fence mocking me everytime with their tagline on a fake paint splash: "Yep, it's another Huckleberry Fence" Really? you get the question so much you had signs made. I admit I like the fences I've seen.
They use nice wood, creative details but not too fancy. Most have held up well but nothing seems much older than 10 years. We'll see, the true test of a good fence is time.
