Rio Grande Fuel Co. founded in Denver, Colorado in 1893 by Erik Peterson established its roots by supplying coal, hay and feed to Elmer's West side neighbors. In 1946 Elmer's son Don joined the business becoming company President in 1958. Today operating as Rio Grande Co. under the leadership of Bruce Peterson, our 4th generation local and family owned business continues to supply quality building materials and exceptional service to the Colorado construction market.We began our proud tradition of community service in 1905 when Erik G. Peterson helped found the original Swedish Consumptive Sanatorium in Denver.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this company, but specifically Paul, who works in their Osage location. We're homeowners GCing our addition construction and Paul has been an absolute joy to work with. He's helpful and fast and has provided above and beyond customer service to two (probably really annoying and green) novices to construction.
We had a snafu with some steel beams we ordered and although it was the framer's fault, Paul went out of his was to try to make sure we spent as little as possible to fix the issue by crediting us for the unused beam with the new order. I highly recommend the firm and be sure to ask for Paul!

This company is knowingly complacent in fraud. We had a shady contractor that was supposed to order materials through Rio Grande that never happened after taking our money. Rio Grande lied to me that the order was placed. The conversation was recorded. Might actually be good news for us as Rio Grande will now be named in the lawsuit and we might actually recover our money thanks to them knowingly participating in fraud. Sucks to suck.
