If I could give this company zero stars, I would. We spent $15,000 with them putting in a new gas heating system in our home. They never hooked up the existing AC system, even though we paid them to move it to a new location and include it in our new heating/cooling system. I have called them at least 10 times over the last 3 years and they will not return my call our come out to hook up our AC.
If you are fine paying a company to do a partial job, then these guys will do the trick. If you want your job completed, make sure you have them do it fully before they leave your house, or it will never get completed.

Matrix installed my heat pump in 2015. It needed service in 2019, and needs service again now. They've been unresponsive to emails, texts and calls for service. Tried for two weeks snd nothing. I need a new fan module and motor-$1,300 in parts. Angry that there's essentially no warranty now, due to the fact they no longer exist! Argh!

The people at Matrix energy have always been great to work with. They installed two ducted minisplit systems into our old 2 story 1913 house. They're pretty responsive through texts and calls, and always make sure we felt good about their work before taking off. The owner came out a few times to diagnose some initial problems with the systems, and always communicated the plans and solutions. Whole-heartedly recommend them for any HVAC needs.

Shady shady! This place is The main office for all matrix energy services also on the east coast. It's a joke, they supply subpar products through "electricians". They were probably chased out of the west coast for doing shoddy work. They were not even installing LEDs. They get contracts with electric company's to install upgrades then bill out work to the electric company for work that was never done. Matrix walks with the money and the customer get low grade upgrades. Pg&e and others should look into the billing and check with the customers to compare. Also check the a/c tons? Bet they don't match. Fraud!

I hired Mark, the owner of Matrix to install a new furnace in my house about 4 years ago. A few months ago in the Spring it stopped working. I mistakenly thought that Bel-Red Heating had installed it (they serviced my old system). So I called Bel-Red and they told me the control panel was bad and I needed to replace it for $900! I have little kids.
It was cold out. I bit the bullet and paid the money. The day after the installation I found a sticker on the side of the unit that said Martix Energy. I called and spoke with Mark, the owner and told him what had happened. He said if I need anything, just call. I used the system for about another week and then warm weather arrived so we didn't use it again until just a few weeks ago.
When I tried to turn the heat on a few weeks ago, the thermostat inside the house would not turn on at all. We bought and installed a new, expensive thermostat. It would not turn on at all. I called my electrician (Trinity Electric--they're awesome) and they said it sounds like something the energy guys need to figure out within the furnace. I called Mark and left him a message explaining what was going on.
He didn't respond. I waited several days and sent him a text. Again, he didn't respond. I waited many more days and called again and left him another message. He finally sent me a text saying he had been sick and couldn't get to me for about a week. I said I would wait for him since it was his unit. I asked if we could schedule for the following Tuesday (9 days later).
He did not respond. I called and left a message. He did not respond. I sent another text message. He did not respond. Bottom line is that he got the huge payout from me for the unit (which I later found out cost $250 but he charged me $1200 to install it). Then he didn't stand behind his warranty or word. I do not recommend Mark or Matrix Energy for his lack of integrity and poor business practice.

Matrix Energy Services has been fantastic! They helped us keep an old furnace working for a few extra years, and then responded quickly when the old furnace finally gave up the ghost. They gave us honest, reasonable advice, and responded quickly to our emergency. They worked around our schedule and our dogs. :) And the final price exactly matched the estimate.
The new furnace (which was not top-of-the-line) is so quiet and is heating the house so well! Don't wait until your old furnace dies! These guys are the best! Call them!

Write down Matrix and save it for a cold day. I would give Mark at Matrix 10+ stars if I could. These guys are great. Our furnace stopped working on a very cold Saturday. We called Washington Energy who put in the furnace. Three weeks was the soonest they could come out. I ended up calling six other places basicall the same story. Matrix was great.
Mark started talking me through what I should look at. He made an effort to help us out. He came over that day and got our heat back on. He explained what steps he went through and then found a way to fix it without any major changes. His rate was very reasonable. This is who I will call for any future heating or furnace issue. Call them if you find yourself in need. Better yet, call them now before it gets too cold to have them check your furnance now. That way you won't find yourself sitting in a cold house one day. Great Service!

2/13/16 I have worked with Mark Adlerbert and Matrix over many years for furnace maintenance and now, ultimately, replacement. He is quick to respond, flexible with scheduling, honest and very happy to educate me about the function of my furnace and options. Most recently, I talked to Mark at about 5 pm after our blower motor died. He was out the next morning to diagnose the problem and provided detailed options to repair or replace the furnace.
We opted to go with a new furnace and Mark's team had it installed and working the next day. Fantastic service, and highly recommended. 10/7/17 Update I have worked with Mark and Matrix for about 12 years and he's repaired and replaced two furnaces and a water heater for me. He is always a joy to work with. He is generally available by phone, text, and email and has many times spent part of his evenings and weekends trying to troubleshoot what may be going on with appliances and even talking me through attempted repairs.
He tries to keep old units functioning as long as it is reasonable. It used to be that Mark did all the work himself. Now he has help from a very competent team doing installations and repairs. And although the company is completely thorough, professional, and reliable, the terrific thing about Mark and Matrix is that it still feels like you simply have a friend helping you out. There's no bureaucracy or filter.
The timeline of our latest crisis tells all: Wednesday night: Water heat failed and I emailed Mark. Thursday morning : Mark called and had a team member out to look at the situation within hours. He assessed the job and gave me prices. Scheduled replacement for Friday. Thursday afternoon and evening: Mark talked me through the pros and cons of a tankless system, offering very personal advice and certainly not pushing this more expensive system. Friday morning: Job completed.

Terrible customer service. They broke fixtures at my shop then left. When I tried to contact them it was extremely difficult to get ahold of someone who could help. I asked for a number for the San Diego office which they were extremely reluctant to give out then denied me a good name for contact. Shortly after I was hung up on. This company gives me a very shady unprofessional vibe and I would be very cautious before letting them do any work for you at all.

Sometimes you leave a review and wish there was an option to leave less than one star. And, then there are situations like this where you wish there were way more than five stars to reward such phenomenal service. I can't even describe what a great experience it was to worth with Matrix from the initial email to the final invoice. I will forever keep them at the top of my vendor list and recommend them to anyone who will listen. Great job!

Ah-mazing! Called at 11am with a furnace that apparently died in the night. After two hours of trouble shooting with the husband we caved and called someone. I read through the reviews on Yelp and went with matrix. They we're fabulous! They came by 2pm diagnosed the problem - gave me a ball part cost - went and got the part and had my heater running by 6pm!
With a toddler in the house and working from home the house needed to be warm on a cold rainy day! They were wonderful - I braced myself for a larger bill then the ball park estimate and it ended up being half of what they ballparked! Professional - speedy - and reasonable! Will definitely recommend them to friends and family and clients! Thank you!

OMG! Mark is so nice! Our furnace stops working after my husband tries to replace the thermometer, we called another number first and they said they need a part they didn't have at time and they need to buy it and will come back tomorrow, but the next day they asked for 760 dollars or they won't come! So we find matrix through yelp and call Mark today, he comes and fixes it in 10min and only charges for a regular service! Great service for great price! Highly recommend it!

Our furnace stopped working mid morning and Mark called us back right away. He was able to come out in the afternoon. He talked us through the whole process and showed us exactly how our furnace is supposed to work. He found the issue quickly, and fixed it while explaining each and every step. Mark is super friendly and very knowledgeable, and payment is very convenient because we were able to use a credit card via email. I would highly recommend Matrix Energy Services and we will definitely be using them again for any future services.

Just reviewed a different gas company - amazing how different the two phone calls went! So I just bought a house and need to modify the gas line in my kitchen from one that was supporting a commercial range to a smaller gas line for a regular residential range. Whereas the other company completely brushed me off, Mark was incredibly nice on the phone, gave me a rough idea of how much it would be, but also some advice on if I wanted to do it myself since it was a relatively simple fix (less than 2 hrs including going to Home Depot!) and took a few minutes to explain why (this is to a total stranger on the phone who, if I do it myself, wouldn't even technically be a customer of his!).
He also said that if I decided I wasn't comfortable doing it that he would absolutely be willing to come do the job. Having talked with a TON of contractors in the couple weeks since I bought the house, I'm starting to get a pretty good sense of who genuinely cares about customer service - and Mark very clearly is one of those individuals! THANKS MARK!

Our air conditioner died on 7/13/14. I turned to my neighborhood Nextdoor.com network for service recommendations. Matrix was one of the businesses recommended. I called several other businesses and either couldn't get through or didn't hear back from them, so I called Matrix and got a live person who scheduled a service call with Jamie at 10 a.m. on 7/21/14.
Around 9:30 a.m. on 7/21 I received a call from Jamie informing me one of the service trucks had broken down and Matrix was having to reschedule some of that day's appointments while the truck got fixed. I didn't have access to my calendar at the time of the call so Jamie gave me his ph# to call re: rescheduling. I called the ph# and left a message around 3:30 p.m. on 7/21.
I did not hear back from him that day (was okay with that), so I called him again around 9 a.m. on 7/22 and had to leave a message. When I hadn't heard from him by 3 p.m. I tried calling again and left a message with no response. Around 10 a.m. on 7/23 I left a final message asking to reschedule service. To this day Jamie has not returned my calls.
I *could* have called the office phone to ask about rescheduling but I figure if the tech assigned to my case isn't responsible enough to return my calls (or forward them to the office) then it's a sign the company is one that I probably don't want to deal with. I HATE poor customer service and I refuse to chase service providers for the pleasure of paying them good money while they give crappy customer service.
I am happy to wait until Eastside Heating & Air Conditioning is free to fix my air conditioner. I have shared this information with my neighborhood and the other 11 neighborhoods in South Bellevue/Newcastle that are hooked into us on Nextdoor.com. Matrix just lost a customer(s) thanks to Jamie.
