Austin Deck

I used Austin Deck Company to build a relatively small deck in my backyard. Walker was very professional and made the entire process easy. I floated several options for the deck and Walker created design plans and price quotes for each of them. I'm very happy with the finished product. A few weeks after the deck was completed, some composite deck boards became deformed (this was not due to poor craftsmanship, but just something that happens sometimes).

I emailed Walker about it and he coordinated with his team and had someone come back out to repair it. It was fixed within a few weeks with no stress and no additional costs. I highly recommend Austin Deck Company for anyone looking to enhance their outdoor space.

Courteous service, excellent response time, appears to be excellent workmanship, as well. A real pleasure to work with Abe and his crew. Highly recommend based on service, doing what they say they will do, and addressing any problems immediately, although there weren't any problems that I would consider significant during the pre-installation phase or installation phase of the project.

I cannot say enough about Austin Deck Company! We recieved a few proposals from a few other contractors and no one else compared to the level of professionalism, attention to detail, and quality that Walker and Austin Deck Company promised. From start to finish Austin Deck and their installers were the gold standard of craftsmanship and professionalism and were attentive to and followed through on every desire that we had in our deck replacement! I would 100% refer and use Austin Deck Company again and again!

I called them asking about a screened in porch, and they called me right back, they don't do this type of work, but recommended somebody who does. It's hard enough to find a residential contractor who even calls back, they seem fantastic!

We couldn't be happier with our deck, pergola, and outdoor shower enclosure that Austin Deck just completed for us! The quality and attention to detail was beyond reproach. Every effort was made on their part to make sure we were pleased with each stage of the project. We're so happy we added the skirting to the deck. It looks great and provides great storage with a perfectly aligned access door. It's clear this entire project was built to last. When my 16 year old in-deck hot tub died, one section of the deck and privacy fence had to be removed to get the old tub out and install a new one. I contacted Austin Deck Company to rebuild the deck. Abe was very punctual in responding to my request for a quote. I obtained other bids and Abe was very competitive. He scheduled the work 2 weeks after accepting the job, but later called and ask if he could begin a day earlier.

The crew was very punctual and finished the work in 2 days. After finishing, they did a thorough clean-up. The quality of the work is outstanding, and Abe was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Austin Deck Company for all your deck needs.

Abe and his crew replaced a failing substandard exterior stairway to an apartment we have on top of our detached garage and added a small deck. This was more of a "utility" project to enhance existing functionality than an "architectural" project to beautify a home. This drove the practical design and budget. Abe was on time for the initial consultation, on time with bids and up front about design considerations and costs.

He was also transparent about some minor glitches along the way. None of this was typical for other contractors I engaged. Most other contractors were obviously in over their heads. A few applied costs more typical of a commercial project - I needed a Honda and they were trying to sell me a BMW. I was seriously ill during the entire duration of the project and was not able to monitor progress, so I trusted Abe to deliver as promised and he and his crew exceeded my expectations.

His crew are full time craftsmen, not contractors hired job to job and it shows. I was not disappointed, they did a great job and left the work area cleaner than they found it. I cannot recommend this Veteran-owned business highly enough.

We just had our 20-year old deck rebuilt by Austin Deck company. Donny was in charge of the project and was very thorough delivering all the information we needed and was very accommodating with all our requests. The crew was very professional and our deck looks beautiful.

We hired Austin Deck Company to replace our existing deck earlier this year and we couldn't be happier with their work. Our original deck was 20-year-old standard yellow pine and the previous owners apparently did nothing at all to preserve it. It was also split into two height levels which reduced the usable area of the surface, so we wanted the new one to all be one height.

I was left with a good impression after my first meeting with Abe. Out of the four contractors we got quotes from he was the most professional and just seemed to have a lot of experience to draw from. He gave me some suggestions about the design and fleshed those thoughts out later through the design drawings he sent me. Kris, the crew lead, helpfully answered the questions I had once construction began.

He and the rest of the crew were all very polite and they just did an amazing job. I planned to install deck lighting myself afterward so I asked them to pre-drill small holes in the posts during construction (to run wiring through) and they took care of that no problem. It's been about six months now and we're still completely happy with our new deck.

We love the natural color variations of the western red cedar and everything feels wonderfully sturdy and secure. It's rare that I am left 100% satisfied with a company, so I wanted to make sure and leave a review for these guys. We will gladly use them for any carpentry projects like this in the future.

Victor and his crew were here rain or shine completing the project on time and the deck was as beautiful as they said it would be. Mark Evans designed the deck and provided constant support throughout the process. Supplying the crew and working to ensure everything was completed perfectly.

We just finished construction with Austin Deck Company. Abe was great to work with and his crew assigned to our project really knew what they were doing and fun to have around. The electrical and railing companies Abe used were on time and focused. We permitted the deck construction, electrical work and did permits for the trees as the root zone was an issue and Abe handled it all. I interviewed four companies and I can say that Austin Deck Company met all my expectations. You cannot go wrong if you use Austin Deck Company for your deck project.

I can't believe I haven't rated Austin Deck Company until now! Back in early 2015 we got several quotes on a unique project we wanted built: a pergola over our existing deck with a strong enough structure to mount 30 solar panels on top (to shade the deck and simultaneously generate power), complete with structural engineering calculations to prove it could handle both the weight and significant wind up-lift forces.

We also needed our contractor to work as a sub-contractor to our solar panel installers. which meant waiting to get paid by a third party. I work in mechanical engineering and provided Abe with my plans for the pergola. After visiting our home, he came up with modifications that made it both sturdier and more aesthetically pleasing than what I had envisioned.

We LOVE having the "solar pergola" over our deck. We get a lot of compliments on it from friend, neighbors, and even a structural engineer! Now we are getting ready to replace the old deck, and we're talking to Abe again. Once again, he's a pleasure to interact with, and his expertise and professionalism are highly valued. I'll post photos of the solar pergola, and I'll update my review with our experience on the new deck.

Abe builds strong, quality structures and is extremely easy to work with. I wish my experiences with other contractors were half this good.

Abe did an excellent job repairing some rotted boards on our deck along with filling in a hole that was left by a Jacuzzi. We had a tough time finding someone to take on the "Jacuzzi hole" and Abe and his team did an excellent job in a timely manner. He was kind of pricey, but that is the market in Austin and for the work he completed, we would pay it again. Thanks Abe and Team!

From the initial consultation to refining the design to removing the old materials right through to building such a beautiful deck, Austin Deck Co. did a superb job. Highly professional, great communication, great follow-up. Couldn't be more pleased. Very happy to recommend them.

Two words: exceptional experience! We went into this process very reserved, since we were almost scammed out of our money by another company. Honestly, this was not necessary when dealing with Abe Oeltjen and Austin Deck Company. We called them him out on Monday evening, for a quote. We received an excellent quote for our (~20' * 30') deck. Tuesday, we decided to go ahead and move forward, signed the contract, and asked when they could start (expecting a bit of a wait).

They were waiting outside our house the next day at 07:00. Chris and his crew were 100% professional the whole time they were here. They even took a moment to fix a fence post for our neighbor, at no charge. They were fully open and honest about anything we asked, and always checked before doing anything that we might have an opinion about. They completed our giant deck in two days (writing this on Thursday).

They definitely overbuilt the frame, so it is not going anywhere. I will recommend them to anyone who ever wants any deck work done. Great price, great craftsmanship, great people. 100% great experience.

Knowledgeable, Attentive and Detailed. We called 4 companies and 3 companies came out and gave us an estimate. Austin Zen design unfortunately stood us up but we didn't make an additional effort to contact them. Being the first timer on making any addition to house, we had so many questions about it such as permit, what types of materials to use, etc.

We had a scrap book of the pictures of decks we liked and we had some ideas but we didn't know exactly what kind of deck we wanted. Austin Deck company stood out because it was only the only company out of 3 that not only knowledgeable but was willing to spend a lot of time to explain different options to us and made us lots of suggestions without pressuring.

Maybe we just got lucky Abe (our sales rep from Austin Deck). We mentioned to him that we liked the fence in some house in the neighborhood and he drove to the house to look at it that day and let us know that it was no problem to do the same fence. The reps from the other two companies gave us exactly 15 minutes and one syllable answer for any question we ask.

After all the talking was done, Abe sent us 3D modeling of the deck and fence we discussed along with a quote. so we signed the contract with Austin Deck even tho they were about $1000 more expensive. The guys came out to install was very experienced with good workmanship. The deck and fence came out exactly we pictured and we could not be happier.

Donny and the two contractors here were fantastic. I spent a ton of time looking for a deck company who I could actually get out to our house and provide us with a quote. Just a day or so after sending in my request Donny responded and was at our house that week. We booked him at beginning of June or so and had our deck completed first week of July. Took the crew 2 1/2 days and our deck is beautiful!

He came up with a fantastic design that we didn't even think of and the craftsmanship is fantastic. Even after they were complete we felt a couple of boards were loose and he came back to reinforce them, not taking our check until he was happy with it. Will absolutely be referring people to Austin Deck Company!

Be sure to get a few quotes. We had Austin Deck bid on a job for a simple, no frills deck and their cost was around 3x what another competitor bid. We went with the competitor (Betts construction) and have been very pleased with the result.

We interviewed a number of deck builders, but Austin Deck Company quickly earned our business by being professional, knowledgeable and (above all) honest. While other companies over-promised and then backed away from those promises, Abe Oeltjen was open about what was possible at our home, as well as what was best. Our deck project was then completed on schedule and within budget. Abe maintained regular contact with us during the entire process, and then personally inspected the final product upon completion. Overall, Austin Deck Company was great to work with and the product exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend Austin Deck Company.
