We bought a Homesmith home in Hallsley, and have been pleased with their response to the few fixes needed since closing. Stephen (warranty manager) was extremely prompt in responding to my reports of trouble, and the fixes appear successful. Nothing custom designed and built with as many parts as a home of this size is going to be perfect, so in the end quality can be judged by the number and nature of the problems, and how well the builder responds to fix them.

We've been in our house for 9 months and so far I give them 5 stars in both respects. 2021 update - almost three years in, I thought I'd update this review to say our home has stood the test of time and I'd still give Homesmith 5 stars for both build quality and customer service. If we ever decide to downsize I'd build with them again!

I am very happy with HomeSmith. They installed kitchen cabinets and counter tops for a remodel that I did in late 2019 and it looks amazing. I also purchased the cabinets through him and the price was as good as my multiple other quotes. John was onsite on a regular basis to check the work progress and was in person to sign off on the project. I did have one issue about a month ago, and someone was out within a day to fix it. Overall, I'd recommend him to anyone.

Pat and all the crew at Homesmith Construction were amazing to work with! They were very detail oriented and made sure we were happy with every aspect of the home. They have stayed in touch and helped us with any minor issues that have come up within the last 3 years even if they were out of warranty! I would recommend them to anyone looking for a quality home at a great value!

I was really stressed because we were starting a huge project for our budget (1,000 sq ft in-law suite w/ garage & rooftop deck) and we spoke with over 10 contractors before decided on John & his team at HomeSmith. They weren't the cheapest quote that we got, but we definitely got the best feeling from them and we had heard so many horror stories about going with an unreliable contractor. Fortunately, HomeSmith excelled in every category you look for in a contractor.

They stuck to the budget we agreed to, they finished on schedule, and they delivered a high quality final product that we are very excited about! If there were ever any issues with subcontractors or inspectors, we didn't hear about them, John did a great job of handling any problems and not making them our headaches, which I think is great. He has a great eye and understood our vision well, and I think he absolutely made the right call any time we asked his advise on a decision we didn't have a lot of experience with. HomeSmith will definitely be the first company we call for any new projects we consider!

I would not recommend Homesmith Builders. After 10 months of living in our house we had 2 roof leaks. The attempt to repair the leaks has gone on for 5 months with the work still not completed. We are not happy with the way Homesmith has dragged this repair out nor the way they have gone about the repair itself. We bought a new house with a new roof, not one that has been repaired!

We are writing to commend HomeSmith on the excellent job they did on our Master Bathroom remodel here in Ramona. Right from the start we knew we were going to love the upgrade when it was completed. John Miller and his trusty side-kick Eric worked well together to complete the task. He returned my call quickly and was prompt in sending a quote. The work we had completed was a full gut job of the bathroom including removal of the glass shower enclosure, removal of the rarely used whirlpool tub, and removal and refurbishment of the existing vanity.

We expanded the shower 18 inches, built a new wall, and added a second shower head. No need to ever argue again about shower temperature, we now each have our own shower head and niche. We added a smaller free-standing tub, upgraded to quartz and low-profile vessel sinks, new hardware, new mirrors, new lighting fixtures, and new upgraded toilet. We also added a new vent fan in the shower and floor tile.

From beginning to end, John kept us abreast of the schedule and explained why things would work when requested or why not. He made excellent recommendations along the way that really helped with the final product. Every worker who came to our house was polite and professional. Although there were a few challenges along the way due to product failure, no fault of HomeSmith, John stayed on top of it making sure everything was completed to our full satisfaction. I highly recommend HomeSmith for your next remodel.

Had them take a wall down and put a beam in the ceiling last summer. They were easy to work with and did great work! Thinking about using them again for a bathroom.

OK, I wrote about them before, but they recently did more work on my home. They did what they promised for what they promised to charge. But everyone does that. I'm recommending them because they looked beyond what I asked and told me how simple fixes could make my home more valuable. I'm not expecting to sell my house anytime soon, but their knowledge makes me value HomeSmith's all the more. Anyone smart enough to employ them should listen to their advice.

Homesmith replaced an old non working 72 inch bathtub for us. The tile work they did was excellent. Eric went above and beyond by going to several tile stores to get the best match for our existing tile. Can't even tell they are different tiles. They did all the demo, plumbing, framing, tile, etc. Matt and Eric did a fantastic job. They even built a panel in tile for future access. Can't even tell it's there. Can you see it? Thanks homesmith! We will be using you soon to finish rest of remodel on bathroom

I decided to make a re-model happen without the help of a general contractor. HUGE mistake. I have found some really good subcontractors, but others I will never work with again. Once I decided to work with Home Smith, everything was smooth sailing. Both John and Eric are incredibly professional, courteous, skilled and reasonably priced. Take if from me! Do not attempt to do home improvement, alone. It will cost you more in the end. Thanks Home Smith!

We have since moved in and are thrilled with all of the work that John did. We had him come back last week to help straighten and reinforce our old garage which had shifted and wracked about 3 inches out of plumb due to the unfortunate growth of a large palm tree which had been planted too close. He was innovative in his methods for lifting the structure to remove tree roots from between the slab and the sill plate, replaced rotted wood, added plywood sheathing as needed, got the structure to within a 1/2 inch of plumb, and even got the garage door to close again!

It was a hard day's work, but we knew that John could do it. and he didn't leave until the job was done. We will definitely call John when we are ready to renovate our bathroom and kitchen. Highly recommended!

John Miller of HomeSmith has been a true pleasure to work with! He first came to meet with us at our 1920 Craftsman home in June to take a look at our proposed interior work. He was friendly and professional and came up with some great ideas for our house that we hadn't even thought of, like making the small fixed windows on either side of the fireplace operable. John was prompt in providing us with an itemized quote so that we could determine what work we would be able to afford to do and what would have to be scaled back.

Once we had a finalized scope he began work on some of the smaller projects (re-roping double-hung windows, filling and recreating trim on severely damaged window sills and doors, creating beautiful new solid black walnut tops for the mantle and built-ins, etc.) while we worked on getting a permit for our bigger projects. Once our permit was in place (end of July), the demo began. John changed out 5 swinging doors to be sliding pocket doors.

He also cut an opening in the wall between our kitchen and dining room (complete with new header & pier footings). John coordinated all the necessary subs - from plumbing, to electrical, to concrete, to drywall - and were all a pleasure to work with as well. He clearly surrounds himself with other hardworking friendly professionals which we greatly appreciate. John was very accommodating of our schedule so that the painters could start work when they needed to and we, in turn, could move in when we needed to.

He worked many long days (and weekends when necessary) to make it happen, but never sacrificed the quality of the work. Thank you so much, John for making our house into a beautifully renovated home! We love it! We would highly recommend him and intend to hire him again for the next project.
