Ross Hellings has committed a lifetime to building better homes. Starting in the industry in 1988 while earning his Engineering degree from Penn State, Ross worked for his family's home building business as well as a national luxury home builder before founding Hellings Builders in 1998. Since then, Hellings Builders has been building custom homes on client-owned properties, renovating homes, and building quaint communities throughout the Delaware Valley.On every project, regardless of the size, Ross brings his passion for finely crafted homes and with an eye for detail, puts his focus on the client's best interest.

We meet, we discuss, we listen. The initial consultation is an exciting discovery process. You will be speaking with one of our skilled remodeling specialists who understands design, zoning, building regulations and the ins-and-outs of the entire pre-construction phase. You will discuss your goals, design ideas, and preferences for your new project as well as budgeting and timelines.

I wanted to take the time to write this review as I feel it is important to highlight those who provide such exceptional products and services and truly deserve referrals by their clients and for other to know about the quality that stands behind their name. Having worked as a project manager years ago, in addition to fully renovating multiple homes, I had some angst in making sure we picked the right home builder for our new home that I could trust would have the attention to detail that my OCD self exhibits.
I am by no means suggesting I am a master craftsman or deserve my own reality tv show, but I have learned to appreciate quality work over the years and having seen some of the homes being built locally and their lack of fit and finish this was an area of concern. I can assure you that all my apprehensions were put to rest when I met Ross (Builder) and Barry (Project Manager) at Hellings Builders.
They are both true professionals that have making impeccable, quality, custom homes down to a science. Every single trade they used on site were true craftsman and extremely skilled. The attention to detail and making sure that everything was completed just right was greatly reassuring. Additionally, the manufacturers and products they choose to use are among the best out there which further lets you know this is a quality builder who refuses to use inferior products because they take pride in what they produce since their name is on it. Furthermore, Hellings is a true custom builder.
They are more than willing to work with you to make whatever vision you have a reality. Unlike numerous builders that claim to be custom builders but then only provide you a limited amount of options and limiting any alterations to their house plans. Hellings will assist in incorporating your own designs or specifications you are looking to utilize or they will help you find a solution if you need.
Both Ross and Barry do an excellent job of guiding you in the right direction and providing the proper level of assistance with your decisions throughout the build. The communication throughout the entire process was exceptional and once again I go back to saying Hellings and their vendors are all true professionals at what they do. Not to mention this build occurred during the middle of the COVID pandemic and despite all the hurdles with shutdowns and manufacturing setbacks, Hellings continued to do everything in their power to continue work and schedule vendors the most efficient way possible and our actual settlement date still occurred on the day we set at the very beginning of the construction process.
The one thing to me that speaks volumes about a person's character is their work ethic and Hellings and their vendors are shining examples of this. I have never seen a construction site so organized and clean in my life. The pride taken into every aspect of every phase was greatly admirable. The seamless transition between each phase was impressive.
Where I tend to be an extremely detailed oriented individual, Barry further impressed us by adding certain things to the build that he knew I would appreciate that I never expressed needing. I mean talk about knowing your client and going above and beyond to provide them with an incredible experience. The thoughtfulness and time that both Barry and Ross took to understand our vision for the home and not only making it a reality but far exceeding our every expectation was invaluable.
My wife and I can honestly not say enough great things about Barry, Ross and the entire Hellings team. If you are in the market for a new home or know someone that is please, please, please just take the time to walk through one of their homes, the quality, fit and finish will sell itself let alone the incredible team standing behind their product. In 2019, my wife and I decided to move from San Diego to Chester County. We knew we wanted a home in or about the Malvern area. After looking at what was on the market for resale we decided to go in the direction of new construction. We then looked at several different builders and their ongoing or upcoming projects and we were disappointed with the designs and the quality of the construction.
Then we were referred to a new development in Charlestown Township called Cedar Run. The moment my wife and I arrived at Cedar Run we immediately became excited at what we saw. The size of the subdivision, the layout of the lots and the surrounding open areas were perfect and the home designs were exactly what we wanted. Once we toured one of the homes under construction and one that was ready to settle we knew we had hit the jackpot.
Soon thereafter, we were under contract with Hellings Builders. Designing and building our new custom home from the other side of the country had its challenges.
