This is an original home design inspired by some old French farms I have seen. Its inspiration is definitely Country French involving low gable roofed sections and the short round towers with conical roofs seen in many vernacular country buildings, especially in Southern France. It seems ideally suited to the more south and western areas of the U.S. but could as well be comfortable in most any state. This design is available for purchase and complete construction plans can be provided. This is the view showing the garage.
We call this the Walker Hill House for its new location., The main part of the house was salvaged in Eastern Connecticut and was originally built ca 1790; the little house or kitchen ell was salvaged in Northeastern Massachusetts (ca 1740); and the barn, from the Hoosick Valley of New York (ca 1840).
This turn of the century Gothic styled Victorian home had retained much of the original interior in its primary section, but the very unfortunate shed- roofed addition from the mid-20th Century really had spoiled its antique charm. I was commissioned to provide the creative home design that would solve this problem.
