Shortly after clearing the wood lot at Ridge Hill, Kit had to travel as far as Maine to gather pine to support his growing lumber business. During one of those trips to Maine, Kit and his son Arthur Arnold, Sr. came up with the idea to bring back extra lumber to supply to local builders. In these early days the lumber was kept in the family garage.

My contractor ordered an Anderson E-Series door through Arnold months ago. Even with Covid excuses, the sales person and rep and manufacturer have not communicated through the process and the order was never processed or followed up on. Anderson repeatedly claimed they hadn't gotten the order, then they needed a paint sample for the interior of the slider which the color had been chosen out of their brochure and sample colors page. Contractors original quote from Arnold was $3,000 more than quote from Riverhead for the exact same door. Stayed with Arnold only to please my contractor even though their revised quote was still $180 higher than Riverhead.
Sales Rep claims they're rushing my door and window now at the factory for mid Sept, but has no real confirmation from the factory. My last project through UBS, now Riverhead and their sales people I ordered multiple sliders and custom Anderson windows and never had a problem with quotes, costs, nor delivery time. Regardless, I went against my better judgment of not stalking the salesperson to make sure he was doing his job following up with his rep and the factory knowing my order was sitting on someones desk.

I started a guy rehab of house in Newport, RI. I used Arnold for everything building related. I mean every screw, piece of lumber, windows, siding and roofing shingles. Why the quality of the material is exceptional, the delivery guys are unbelievably courteous and respectful to my crew and most importantly mine and my neighbors property, no tire tracts on the lawn etc. I'd suggest you ask for a dedicated salesman (I used Craig) and they will estimate all needed materials and it's s usually spot on. If you need special mill work items the craftsmanship is special. Two or three time during job they called with an update or suggestion. So worth it!

As a local homeowner who occasionally needs some quality lumber, but doesn't own a truck or have time to shop in person, Arnold Lumber is the best. I've placed 6 orders with Arnold Lumber over the phone in the past few years and each time they have provided great quality lumber for my various projects around the house, like resurfacing my deck. Compared to places like Home Depot where lumber grade is low, Arnold is at least a grade above meaning less wasted wood if you need to avoid imperfections, knots, etc.
Not only is the lumber very good quality, but next day delivery is free even on smaller orders. This is perfect for anyone in town who needs quality lumber delivered to their home.

Arnold Lumber does not post any return policy, it is not on their invoice and they do not tell you about it when purchasing an item. When I asked to return an item that I later found on-line for $140.00 less, they said there would be a 25% handling fee. Watch out.their prices are extraordinarily high and they will not accept returns unless you want to pay.
Their return policy either does not exist or they hide it until it's necessary to pull it out. My opinion is they take advantage of a woman walking in for a retail purchase.

Tried to order at Arnold a pre-hung door from the Brosco catalog. Studied the catalog first so knew what I wanted. Spent time at Arnold and over the phone with them, resulting in me getting first a quote for $275, then $222 and finally over $400 for a door meeting my measurement specs. I said no way to the final quote (over $400 per) then learned they charged me (without me authorizing) anyway - over $900!
I stopped in to get my credit, then went down the street to UBS to see if I could order the Brosco door I wanted. In 10 minutes I had ordered at UBS exactly the door I tried to get at Arnold and for $280 including tax! Definitely got the run-around at Arnold. If you are deciding to go to Arnold lumber or UBS, go to UBS!
