Miller Garage Building

Updated May 2019to add: Have had to hire a structure engineer because the joists and trusses were not inspected prior to sheeting. TWP will not pass the inspection. OP: Been almost a year since garage was contracted. Garage is still not done. Legally terminated contract and finishing ourselves. Empty promises and failed excuses is what you will experience with this company. So disappointed after the wonderful experience with the salesman.

The worst. The salesman, Dave, quit right after I signed on. they took my deposit money - we went back-and-forth with design and when design was approved finally he said he went to get a permit. A permit was never pulled. Steve, the owner, ever even applied for it. Finally fired them after I called the township and they said that nothing had been done regarding permit for my project.

All these bad reviews seem to be in the last few weeks/months. And a friend of mine fired him and hired someone else to finish her project. I can only imagine the reviews that aren't getting posted. This is the first time I'm posting a bad review about anyone. Always excuses. His (owner Steve VanDalen's) daughter was sick. He's out of town. He's getting a big check. Said he would get my money back. Said he's not going to swindle me.

I worked so hard for that money and now I've lost the money and getting nothing out of it. Can't get anyone to answer any phone. Barely emails. Only returns texts sometimes. I heard he's going bankrupt. I will never get my money back, I fear. Who wants to start a lawsuit? I can spearhead it.

Stay away! This company stole our money and never did a lick of work. Steve is a piece of garbage with nothing to offer but excuses. If you even think of using Miller Garage, you have been warned. If anyone else on here wants to start a torch and pitchfork campaign, i'm in.

I don't understand how what Steve is doing is not criminal. I had the same situation dealing with Steve and Miller Garages as it seems everyone else. Signed contract 5/30/2018 to build a garage, took my deposit, and then excuses upon excuses. At this point I doubt anyone is going to be able to get their money back, but if anyone is suing or trying to prosecute, I would participate.

After seeing recent reviews, I feel lucky. I signed in 2017. There were many delays, excuses, lies, etc. After paying for the electrical in the contract, Steve dropped the ball on this and I scrambled to find an electrician and pay for it again myself. This was the only way to get occupancy after many months without a garage. Been trying since June 2017 to resolve this issue. Even getting a judgement in court won't get your money back if he is not in business. Bad experience!

Made deposit in May, nothing has been done. Submitted plans to city, review fee never paid. Promises made, promises broken. Look up Miller Garage on NextDoor to find me and contact me about joining up for getting your money back. EDIT - What they did to us was criminal. We need to go after them for fraud. Dont believe in their reputation from 10-20 years ago. This company has been run into the ground. Took 12 months to get a poorly constructed garage. Multiple lies, and disappointments. Cement work is uneven and so unlevel my garage door doesnt seal. They left the framing wood sitting in the hot July sun for 3 weeks to bake and warp, resulting in a garage that isnt even close to square.

I eventually had to finish the garage myself after they didnt have the money to buy materials or pay the workers. Through the process I was lied to on multiple occasions, me and other clients would compre stories as to why work wasnt getting done and Miller's lies never lined up. They turned what was supposed to an exciting project for me into a nightmare.

Signed in April 2018. Stole my deposit. I am trying to sue for a return but the court says it can't serve them. I am guessing that he simply denies that he's affiliated with Miller Garage when the court officer shows up. The address that their business is listed at is now occupied by another business. The address on the contract is a house.

This company is a total and complete rip off. That used to be good but the owner, Steve Vandalen, Has drven his company into the ground. Complaints galore. Literally stole $2000 of my money as a down payment and did virtually nothing. Just some plans that were very amateur like. He said he pulled a permit for my job. Weeks later I called might township and they said no permit hit Everett even been applied for. He's a liar, giving every excuse in the book while your job is not being done : cancer, illness, traffic, travel, etc.

Several texts From him say he's giving my money back, but of course, nothing. Run for the hills rather than use this company for anything. I probably won't be an option for much longer because most likely this place is going out of business very quickly.

It's been 7 months of excuses. Worker has cancer, went to Texas for grandsons birthday, medical bills, among others. Doesn't return calls. Can't leave a message. Only way is with texting. I've asked for my deposit back. I doubt I'll see it. Steve said I'll get my money back in a month. My bet is a bankruptcy will be filed. Do not use this company.

Steve has 1,700.00 of my money. Was contracted to start end of May. July 4th haven't heard from him. Was told worker has cancer. I suggested we start first of September. It's now the end of October. Doesn't return calls. He made a appointment to come to my home(3rd time) and still no Steve. The sales man will still answer your calls but says he is retired. Looks like I may be seeking legal action to get my down payment.

We had a very bad experience with Steve Miller garages in Warren. We gave Steve $11,500. to build a garage. He kept asking for money to buy materials for the garage. He put up the structure of the garage but never came back to finish it. He did NOT shingle the roof, no garage door, no siding, no side door, no window. I called him several times and was told many excuses.

He had banking troubles, a guy was hurt on the job, one of his workers has cancer, he had to take his daughter in for her thyroid, some one gave him a bad check, he had the flu for 10 days, This went on for over two months. He finally just stopped taking our calls and we have never heard from him. Just a note-- Steve if you are reading this. I forgive you. However-- Please do not do this to anyone else. It has been very hard for us to get extra money and other contractors to finish our project.

The woman driving the truck on August 11th nearly ran my family off the road including my infant daughter in the backseat so she could get around an over sized vehicle convoy. As a result I plan on leaving bad reviews wherever this company comes up. You're a terrible person for putting our safety at risk.
