Gary Pools

We recently started the process to get an in-ground pool. I have always wanted to get a pool but we were unsure if the slope and size of our yard would allow for it. Joe B. has been amazing. He spent more than the average amount of time with us. He was patient, answered all questions and most importantly, he really listened. He sent our design plans and it was exactly what I wanted!

It was very impressive. We didn't really make any changes. I'd also like to mention that Ethan has been great too! He assisted with getting the area (and us) prepared for the process to begin. Both of these gentleman have been a pleasure to work with. We are still in the early stages but feeling GREAT with how it is going so far. I'll update photos as we go!

James M does an outstanding job cleaning and servicing our pool. He is very kind and communicates well when he is coming and answers my many questions I have and has fixed any issues we had that were his responsibility with which to assist us. We appreciate the great service he provides.

How bad is Gary Pools? Stunningly. If choice is between Gary and not getting a pool, do not get a pool. Seriously, if you know a horse is definitely going to lose the race, pick any other horse and your chances of success go up infinitely.

Used Gary for our pool construction. This is a big project for anyone, so I will give my honest feedback. During the plumbing stage, the contractors were using heat to bend the pipe. This was explicitly called out in Gary's docs that they don't do this. I txt my pm and they swapped it out the same day. I feel that he would of called it out when visiting, but I figured sooner the better. Also, I feel that the sales designer and pm should meet before signing off. Gary pools ate the cost of adding another retaining wall and extra drain after the construction started as.

They wanted to ensure the structure of the pool would be good. I could see most builders charging you extra, but Gary pools did what was right. Excellent customer service. 30 days into pool being filled, it started losing an inch a day. We had constant communication and we resolved it by repairing a crack near the main drain. This part is super important because I could of been left high and dry, but they really do care and fixed it. I would use them again in a heart beat and highly recommend. No build is perfect, but the communication they provide makes you feel at ease knowing things will be fixed.

Average service. We had (and still do have) some cosmetic issues with our pool and are pretty much resigned to the fact that this is what we will have to deal with or take care of it ourselves. The finish on our tanning deck does not come close to matching the finish we purchased for the pool. Despite numerous efforts from Gary's employees to rectify the situation, the tanning deck will never match or look close to the rest of the pool's finish due to the initial application of the finish. Also, the concrete is cracking in several areas - we haven't had our pool even a year and the concrete is cracked on the decking in several spots.

Additional minor inconveniences include the vacuum which really doesn't function well. We've made adjustments, had Gary's employees make some adjustments and it still does not effectively clean the pool. I know they're busy & have a lot of customers to keep happy, but we're underwhelmed by the customer support now that the pool is completed.

After researching and meeting with many local pool builders we landed on Gary Pools. Our sales rep Joe B. was the face of the company for us and from day one he has delivered amazing service. He was extremely knowledgeable and provided perspective on all of the things to be considered. His willingness to work with us to design a pool that provided us the features best suited for our family while remaining in budget was above and beyond anything we experienced with other builders. Coupled with the proven history and construction quality of Gary Pools we are extremely pleased.

Do not trust these people, especially Pete Herrera or Paul Richardson. This company trespassed through my yard, to access a neighbor's yard who was installing a pool. They didn't contact me or seek permission, they just opened my gates and came in with their equipment. After waiting 8 months, they still refuse to repair my yard. Their employees assured me they would repair my yard, the paperwork they gave to my neighbor says they will repair it, but now that they completed the project, they simply refuse to repair the damage they caused. UPDATE: A week ago, after I posted this review, the owner of Gary Pools give me a call.

He saw the review and apologized. He agreed to have his company make the repairs. This morning his crew came out to put in fresh topsoil to fill in the ruts. They even did the work by hand rather than risk further damage with heavy equipment.

Jason has been amazing. I have waited on a part for my (4 month new) Omni that randomly went out in September (for 5 months) until this week. He came out to set up my cleaner and adjust the pump a few times between. He made sure the settings were spot on before leaving today which I appreciat! He has just been professional and helpful and honestly that's all I could really ask for when I was not happy waiting otherwise.

Below is my initial post from Dec 2021, we are now in Feb and well they are still working on the project. It has now been over 5 months seems the broke ground and 9 months since the contract was signed. I will update the photos later this week. By far the worst in scheduling and doing work. Signed the contract in April 2021 and they started work on August.

Today on Dec 2021 they still don't know when they will pour the concrete for the patio. Every time I reach out to get an update from the Project Manager or the company all they reply is that someone will be over "late next week". By far the work construction project and communication process. Be warn on using this company. I am not sure who all wrote the other reviews but, certainly not accurate.

I know that this thing take time but that's where the communication comes in play. Whenever they finish, I will update my post and hopefully with a more positive state of mind and if I am wrong I will apologize but, for now be warned.

The guenite crew was awesome, on time, and hard workers. Mike and his crew were informative and took the time to explain what they were doing. Awesome job crew! Gary pools are lucky!

The guenite crew that came to my house was awesome. They were professional, on time and happily explained their steps to me. They were on time and stayed until their job was complete. We very much appreciate Mike, Victor and crew for their hard work.

Had our pool designed by Robert Fording and he was very responsive and helpful. Especially when we had an unforeseen underground easement that required a redesign. The new design was even better than our first! When we finally got to dig day, we honestly were expecting a nightmare based on experiences that other pool owners have had this year. Our dig was smooth and we have a concrete shell less than a month into the project! Geraldo Valdez has been a great project manager and addresses any concerns that we have immediately.

We're still a few months away from completion but Im just glad Gary pools did not leave me with a giant mud pit after starting the dig. I look forward to our new pool and will update this review when our project is completed. Update: Pool was finished in roughly 3 months. Pool school completed 48 hours after the last drop of water went in. All went smooth and Lalo went above and beyond to keep the project moving.

There are maybe 2 phases that Gary pools handed off to a subcontractor (excavation and plaster) which were all amazing by the way. All phases of the project had workers that kept clean and maintained professionalism. This is a pool built with the same standards as the big name builders (Keith zars, Cody) if not, better. We are very pleased. Thank you, everyone at Gary Pools.

So far we are in the excavation stage. Ernesto and Troy were the men sent out to dig. They were professional and always ready to answer questions. They were precise in their dig. Not until after they had left did I notice that they even spread out a small amount of leftover base rock as a path so that we could access our storage shed without walking in the mud.

I would definitely recommend Gary Pools to everyone I know. We had a couple hiccups along the way due to timing with everything going on in the world with Covid. Gerardo Valdez "Lalo" Our project manager did a great job with keeping us up to date throughout the process and when there was an issue or we had questions he was quick to show up at our house to address our concerns. Cant wait to enjoy our new pool in the summer time with family! A big thank you to the Gary Pools family and a special thank you to our Designer Ricky Labrador, Caitlin with the service department team, and Lalo our projext manager!

Gary Pools did a great job on our pool. Our PM was Steve L. He was very responsive and sent us weekly updates on what our next steps were. He was quick to answer our questions too. Our designer was Joe B., and he also did a great job. If you want a pool, book it soon! Ours took 10 months to complete from the day we signed papers. Overall, we're pleased with the outcome.

If I had it to do over again, the biggest request I would make is that the designer and the PM meet with us on site to discuss potential issues prior to construction starting. We can't wait for some hot weather to really enjoy it! Thank you to the whole team at Gary Pools!

We had Gary Pools build our dream pool. Our process from build to finish during covid, especially with the size of 23,000 gallons and a custom design was great. The designer is a whole other story. We have had some issues that were more cosmetic and irritating and a few pump issues but Garys service team and maintenance team has always been responsive, reliable ams courteous.

Our most recent service rep R.J. Was not inly polite, he was extremely knowledgeable, respectful to our concerns, property, and family. Hands down an excellent and above standard employee whose professionalism makes Garys team stand high above the rest!

Through our pool design process with Robert F. he listened to what we wanted and made changes along the way til we got to the finished product. During our build Matt P. was awesome in communication and letting us know what was going on every step of the way. Whenever there was an issue he always made sure it was taken care of. With it being a build you're always going to have chances of issues so even with any fixes, repairs or issues we needed taken care of after construction Katelyn has been been amazing in getting things taken care of quickly and again communication has been great.

It's no wonder they are one of, if not, the best pool builders here in San Antonio. Without question would use them again! Thank you to everyone for making this experience an excellent one!

Thank you to our Project Manager Steve! He was professional, communicative and went above and beyond for us throughout our pool build process. We appreciate his patience and guidance with every step and letting us ask question after question. Thank you Steve! Shoutout to Ruben (tile master), we have a ton of tile and he did a fantastic job and made our pool look spectacular.

After researching a number of pool builders, we settled on Gary Pools. John came out, took a look at our yard, and has helped us every step of the way in designing the backyard we always wanted. The pool layout was everything we wanted. In the design studio, John and Ashley helped us detail our pool to make it the backyard vacation spot we were looking for. Thank you John and Ashley for great customer service!

Had some warranty work done by RJ and he went above and beyond what was expected. He came in and not only fixed the issues, but also found and fixed other "small" issues that I had no idea about. He took the time to come back and make sure the pool was clean and balanced before leaving for good. His hard work and attention to detail really put my mind at ease during this process.

Gary Pools still live up to their reputation! They just completed our pool. From the designer, Caleb Jenkins to the project manager Matt Pompa, we have nothing but great things to say. The staff was responsive and answered every question and concern we had. Be mindful that a swimming pool takes time to build so exercise patience. We have a small yard with a narrow entrance and Gary Pools' contractors left minimal damage to the yard.

They came back after the heavy construction and cleaned so well one could hardly tell they were here. Communication and service was impeccable. Jason Ortega finished the project with a comprehensive "pool school" showing how to operate equipment and promised to return in 30 days to follow up with any more concerns AND clean our filters (that's a first!). We had a great experience and highly recommend using them for your pool company!

Just wanted to let y'all know that RJ was out to fix our pool decking and did a wonderful job! He explained everything as he went and the finished product is great. 10/10 is the quality of the work performed. Another quality employee - excellent!

The crew and employees at Gary Pools are professional, personable and very knowledgeable. From our salesman Pete Herrera to Steve Project manager to Brandon Cunningham Assist Project Manager and Joshua Pool School. Everyone was responsive and easy to communicate with. The craftsmanship and design was spot on. We had weekly updates from the day we broke ground to the end. Great customer service! Highly recommend Gary Pools!

We decided to have Gary pools install our pool which has been a complete disappointment from the beginning while they were building our pool the project manager Matthew and his staff threatened to stop the project due to a delay from the lender which was unbeknownst to us initially until several days after that we were informed there was an issue, very stressful time which could have been avoided if we would have been informed sooner!

And after the so called completion of our pool we were following the recommended brushing and maintenance of our pool we starting noticing different colored patches in the quartzscape plaster and after several failed attempts to resolve the issue they finally sent a representative out that had the ability to make a decision to re-plaster which was supposed to quoted done within four to five days and here we are eight days later and not even half done, very disappointed!

We choose Gary Pools to do our pool based on several recommendations. They certainly delivered. Even with the incredible amount of rain we received in May. Steve and Brandon got it done and my family and friends have already had great times. Steve and his crew were flexible when we wanted to choose our own waterfall rock and were helpful in the pick up and delivery of the material. Brandon finished off the job with amazing looking pebble tec pool plaster.

We use Gary Pools for our weekly pool service and Blake does an amazing job, my salt water pool chemicals have never been better. Always very friendly and knows his stuff : Would definitely recommend the company and Blake.

Loved our new pool cleaning guy! Blake is excellent and hardworking. He not only checks the levels of our pool but also spent time scrubbing and detailing areas that needed our attention. He communicates well, great eye contact, and was enthusiastic about his job. It was refreshing to see someone that took pride in their job!

Service call: Andy arrived on time, identified the problem, applied the solution, fixed the problem. Then he gave me a strong block of instruction to elevate my ability to run my pool more efficiently and with less trouble. Highly professional. Very positive customer experience. Highly recommend Gary, and Andy in particular, if you need service.

Chris came over on a few occasions until he was able to diagnose the issue and get it fixed. He was awesome to work with! Would highly recommend the company, and even more highly recommend, Chris!

We hired Gary Pools to construct our pool which is what I am extremely pleased with, however during the construction the concrete stairs were not designed to standard and the construction team made a very disappointing attempt to repair. The pool was done before COVID and now that business has opened up we have flagstone steps literally cracking falling apart.

They have made 2 attempts to fix and now we have to wait for someone else to come and fix. They refuse to completely demo and repair and we are still waiting. Let me be fair here the pool is great, but the steps if completed by subcontractors were hired by them and should be fixed. I still don't have a time commitment of when they will be repaired because they are "too busy." I can't see how the poor quality delivered in the overall delivery of service is my fault and why I have to be continuously told to wait now that COVID is lifted.

I am extremely disappointed with this service. I gave Gary's an incredible review because at the time all was good and looked well done, but obviously this is not the case and I am waiting for Kaitlyn their admin to escalate past whatever manager is responsible for this. I realize this is not her fault and I am only sorry that she has to be subjected to my frustration and disappointment.

From the phone conversation to the time he came out to our house, Chris was an absolute pleasure to work with. Unfortunately we couldn't proceed with an in ground pool due to several things going on in our backyard but I'd still recommend him because he's knowledgeable and very professional. Thanks Chris

We initially chose Gary pools because we had previously worked with Pete Herrera, our designer and was happy with his skill and ability in providing us with what worked with us, our lifestyle and our budget. Our pool was designed for our new home that we were building, so with that said, I have recently dealt with many contractors and subcontractors.

I found that every one that we worked with from Gary pools was superior in every way. Carlos and his crew were great during the excavation phase, they were on schedule and careful with the surrounding structures. Matt was excellent throughout the pool construction, overseeing the entire building project. He was diligent in making sure every detail was done correctly and to my liking.

They were very clean in every phase, going above and beyond in every aspect of the process. Katelyn in the office was always very prompt in answering any questions I had and getting back to me when necessary. Even if she left a message on my voice mail, she would return the call if I did not respond. Andy came out to teach me "pool school" and was so patient and kind in teaching me a totally new system from my old pool.

Being just a phone call away if I had any questions about my new system. And going above and beyond to make sure every thing is working correctly. Out of the many, many companies I worked with during our building process for our home, Gary pool ranks at the top of the list. I wish just half of our subcontractors for our home building had been as conscientious, accommodating, and concerned with staying on schedule as everyone at Gary pools was. I highly recommend Gary pools if you are looking for a company that cares about their customer and the product that they produce.

Buyer beware! We have had three leaks in four years. I mistakenly thought their product would be strong since they have been in San Antonio for decades and that they were comparable to Keith Zars. I was wrong. I have huge regrets. The salesman/designer was great, the engineering and construction were absolutely terrible. Perhaps the materials are cheap and faulty as well. For this big of a purchase, do not choose Gary Pools.

After recently completing construction on our dream pool, we quickly noticed an unfortunate leak coming out of the spa area. I called the service department and they were able to get us on the schedule within the next few days. Keith was our service tech and his first words were "I've never seen this before." that didn't sound too promising. after a few minutes of doing a dye test, he was able to pinpoint a small hole in the grout between 2 tiles where it wasn't totally sealed.

It was a very quick fix that he was able to do there without having to go back and return a different day. I'm VERY pleased with how he handled the situation, and how determined he was to make it a small fix rather than ripping out stones. These are the reasons why we chose Gary Pools in the first place, because their employees are dedicated to their job and their customers. Thank you, Keith! And thank you Gary Pools for our dream pool!

Your pool technician, James, is horrible. He does not know what he is doing and cannot clean a pool correctly. Due to his negligence, I broke out in a rash while swimming in my family member's pool and had to go to the doctor and get medicine. When she tried to talk to him about her pool not being properly cleaned, he started arguing with her in the middle of the street!

He began yelling at HER because he didn't think he was doing a bad job and refused to even listen to her complaint. I hope your other technicians don't have this attitude! I will never recommend your service to anyone I know in San Antonio!

Another shout out to RJ for pool maintenance service. he is a gem and my pool has never looked better. Great communication, great guy!

I would like to thank Gary's Pool for their wonderful job done for the construction of our pool that was completed March 2018. It is our dream to have a pool and enjoy it for many years. The design and end product of our pool is amazing. It is therefore a great investment that is worth the money. Jason has been very helpful in every steps of the way. They even fixed the surrounding in our neighbor's yard in no time. The company's presence in this business will guarantee that their work is excellent.

Do NOT use Gary's Pool to either build your pool or service it. The plaster job done on our pool was pathetic. They've been out twice to fix it but have only sanded down the plaster to the gunite. That does nothing but weaken the plaster thus shortens the life. We will have this legally addressed. Secondly, the service performed has done nothing but create other problems with the salt cell and panel, the filter and the pump.

Do your research. There are other companies. This was our second pool by Gary Pool and the first one was great over 30 years ago. The quality has definitely found rock bottom.

I'm not going to go into the extraneous gory details of my experience, but just know these folks are incompetent with pools and customer service. I can't believe I'm fighting an algae problem after paying almost $190 a month for their 'full service' plan. Complete joke. Avoid at all costs.

The pool company is not that bad to deal with. It's everyone else that turns buying a pool from them a nightmare. The contractor that installed the pool was impossible to ever get ahold of. They use the most expensive concrete contractor I've ever heard of. Be ready to spend $12 per square foot for the extra concrete you want(average price is $3-$4). On top of that it'll take them a month after the pool install to even start.
