In 1981, Perma-Chink Systems, Inc. introduced flexible chinking to the log home industry to replace what was the standard at the time - concrete mortar and painted splines. This revolutionary product, Perma-Chink Log Home Chinking, looked like authentic mortar but stretched and flexed to accommodate log movement while maintaining a tight seal for the life of the house.
Perma-Chink Systems have the best stains for log and timber homes. While we tend to call our stains "finishes, " most consumers are used to the phrasing of "wood stain." Why the difference? The quick answer is that stains permeate the wood, while finishes form a film over the surface, protecting the wood.
Energy Seal is one of the most popular members of our sealants. It was created to seal milled or scribed log homes, log siding homes and around joinery such as butt-joints, window trim, door trim and corners. One application makes any log wall completely weather-tight, which increases energy efficiency of your home.

The folks are what you want when you need information and great products. My exterior logs are begining to age with stress related cracks growing over time and some of the calking is degrading. As a do it yourself individual I needed to learn about the right products, how to do install them properly and what to "not" do. With their wealth of knowledge and process information I feel confident going forward with my project.

We recently used the Permachink Lifeline Accents Pickled White Stain on a new log cabin. The builder applied the first coat and it was so light you couldn't really tell that it was stained. We paid to have a second coat applied and now the entire exterior of our new log home looks like it has a pink hue to it. It is completely ruined and after paying 10,000 in labor an materials we are going to have to use another stain to cover it up.
The dealer I purchased from is going back to Permachink to see what can be done. I would advise anyone not to use this color if you are looking for a pickled white exterior. The interior version of this color seems ok.
