Services
In the early '80s, the closet industry was littered with many small, fledgling companies. The engineering background of Closet Factory founder John LaBarbera, provided him with the critical knowledge required to avoid the precarious wall-hung systems that others provided, and to instead, develop a structurally sound floor-based system.
It all began over three decades ago when Closet Factory engineered the industry's first truly custom closets. When we opened our doors in Los Angeles, California, closets were only on the minds of a few discerning people. We learned how to create closets that fit what people wanted, which led us to become the leader in custom closets.
Whether you want your primary bedroom walk-in closet, a kid's reach-in or another space in the house designed we will work with you to discover your unique wants and needs, style preferences, and budgetary requirements. This PDF will guide you through the measurement process so your designer can create an accurate and personalized design for you.
Closet Factory offers well-organized designs that range from streamlined modern to luxurious traditional styles. Each step of our signature closet design process contributes to the ultimate plan of creating custom closets that are right for you. Your closet designer acts as your design consultant, professional organizer, and project manager all in one, providing key closet organization ideas to help you visualize a perfect storage solution. In order to create your perfect closet, we need to know what your goals are.

We recently moved into a new home. We wanted to have our closets and media center done. We decided to use the closet factory and do the media center first. The designer was very helpful and we waited impatiently for the installation day. When the installers came in they were careful and tried to finish everything in that day. Unfortunately they ran out of time and I was told they were going to come back the next day.

The next day different installers came and that's when things started to go bad. One of the new installers looked like he didn't want to do his job. He rushed everything and left the door handles crooked. In waiting to that some of the doors were too small but blamed the hinges. I was promised they would address the issues. It's been 2 months since the installers first came.

During this time I've been having to almost beg them to come and finish the job. I get put in the schedule but the installers never show up. Only one time they came but it was not on the agreed time frame and I wasn't home. When I call they get very condescending and don't even let me speak with a manager. Today they wanted me to wait for them again.

I can't put my life and work on hold every time they promise to come in but they ended up not showing. I ask them to come on Saturday but refused. I find it very unreasonable that after all this time and the numerous times they didn't honor the appointment they can't try to make things right by coming in Saturday or a time that works with my schedule.

I can't take time off work hoping the installer to show up just for him not to, and me having to call again. I don't know if my media center will ever be completed. Please stay away from this company. They don't care about their customers.

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. I could write a novel on what has gone wrong. This was an office installation with desks tops, cabinets, file drawers, etc. This job was supposed to be done November 10th! Today is February 23 and the job is still not completed. There have been way too many errors; incorrect materials, showing up without materials needed, delays, excuses, etc.

Today was supposed to be the final visit to my home. I called on Monday to confirm the date and what was to be done to complete this project; only 3 things and yet one of the final items to be installed was not on the truck. When I called, there were no answers. Still waiting to hear which excuse it will be this time. If I had a crystal ball, I would have never used Closet Factory. I would have taken a different path for sure!

I had my master bedroom closet installed by Ronnie Wilson and I'm absolutely in love with how it turned out! My designer Denise House was so patient with me. Denise went through all sorts of options and scenarios to help me decide on the right features and configuration for my closet. Her recommendations was everything! I can't say enough good things about my installer Ronnie.

When he arrived, he laid out the materials neatly. When Ronnie was finished he demonstrated an explained how everything was adjustable. He did an amazing job! He was so professional and fast-paced throughout the whole process. It turned out so beautifully! Super thanks to the both of them! I've referred the both of them to my neighbors who admire their work. I absolutely and whole-heartedly recommend Ronnie and Denise to anyone looking to get a custom closet installed!

You are considering using this company RUN AWAY! I wish I had read the ONE star reviews on the actual website prior to signing up. Our experience has been horrible from the moment they received the deposit and still on going. It started with the "designer" Fadia refusing to measure the space for the second time upon signing the contract. Then missing the schedules instal date.

Then when finally the "one man crew" shows up for install, the measurements were wrong and parts missing. Colors not matching, soft close drawers that require more effort to close than not having one. It's been several weeks since and no one is taking responsibility. We have been given the run around by Travis many times and he has stopped all communication. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the headache. They are professional liars!

By far the worst customer experience I've heard had. I have hesitated to write this review because I wanted to give them time to address my concerns prior but I have waited nearly a month after calling a few times a week to speak to a manager. The office/operations staff is so sloppy with their communications. We were rescheduled the day before and then again because they showed up nearly 4 hours passed the expected arrival time.

After finally getting someone here to do the job, they were unable to complete it because they needed to finish cutting some pieces which we were told would be done before they returned. All in all, their communication is the worst. My partner and I lost days of work trying to get this done and I've gotten zero empathy from them. The straw that broke the camels back was the fact that they charged my card for the final payment without my authorization.

I purposely did not sign the final authorization because I needed to speak to a manager about my experience. Now, over a week after my job is done, I have called several times to speak to someone and still nothing. In fact, they have told me repeatedly that Pearl (the manager) is too busy to call me back. Ironically, I too have been "too busy" to deal with all the inconveniences that I've dealt with so far with them but here we are. I WOULD NEVER EVER USE OR RECOMMEND ClosetFactory. I will say their designer and installers were lovely to work with. They deserve a better employer.

The person that quoted my job for a closet and garage design was less than reputable. The person whose name was Lida canceled two visits and gave me a first quote that was reasonable and a second quote that was 300% higher than the original. I do not find this company to be legit. I wanted a simple garage design and to optimize two small closets. First quote was 10k for all. Third quote was 30k and all she showed me was a simple set of cabinets. And to top it all off she wanted me to take all the measurements myself. Do not waste your time.

This is perhaps the most outrageous experience I had as a consumer. I contacted Closet Factory through Costco, thinking the quality shouldn't be bad for a simple built in bookcase. The first installation was somewhat unsatisfactory, The countertop was uneven at the joint with a wide gap. There were unintended holes drilled at the bottom of all the shelves. Hardware/handles were forgotten.

It took almost two months for the second installer team came. This time, it was a disaster. The new countertop was cut short. The handles were placed in the wrong places and not evenly spaced. They forgot about the the holes at the bottom of the shelves. At that point, the installers decided to leave. After they left, I noticed there are multiple pieces of broken boards nailed to the top of the bookcase.

Wrong screws, fine thread metal screws were poorly places to fix the book case to the wall. Then, a piece of crown molding fell off and hit me, and my arm was cut by the nail. I have posted another review on Yelp with pictures, which illustrates the outrageousness more clearly.

BUYER BEWARE! Upon moving into my home (new construction approximately 4 years ago) I had 3 of the 4 bedroom closets designed and installed by Closet Factory. The consultation, design and installation process was completed efficiently and without challenge, plus Closet Factory is so confident about their work and product that they offer a lifetime warranty (winning, right?) Fast forward 4 years later, when I need to use the lifetime warranty, because 2 of 4 drawers on one of the dressers in the master bedroom closet will not remain closed.

When I spoke to a representative, I was instructed to send an email (to include a picture of the issue) and I was informed that it would be 6 to 8 weeks BEFORE a repair date would be scheduled because "they are extremely busy with installations." I am now approximately 6-7 weeks from the initial communication and request for repair; however, no date for repair has been schedule, nor have I received follow up communication from the representative or anyone from the company to address the request/concern.

In a follow up conversation (initiated by me) I was informed by the same representative that a repair date still can not be scheduled as there is no work being done in my area and the provision of a repair wouldn't be likely until February 2022 at best, again "because they are extremely busy." I say all this to say, "BUYER BEWARE!" The consultation, design process, and installation will likely be efficient and flawless, but if it ever comes down to actually needing to use the warranty you may just be out of luck - as this has not been an efficient or customer friendly process in the least.

I hired Closed Factory to install a custom bedroom walk-in closet, kitchen panty, and office built-in shelving unit. The design and sales experience was great! Everything after was unfortunately disappointing. Each project installation was met with considerable issues, include installing mismatching shelving in the bedroom closet, not completing the project due to not having the appropriate materials ordered and ready in the office and kitchen pantry, and worst of all - the flooring and walls In my kitchen were significantly damaged. Ultimately, I cannot recommend this company and would encourage DMV neighbors to consider local competitors at this time. I'm glad to provide details, pictures, or additional information if helpful to others.

Horrible service, Don't go through them! please! We call them in April very excited to have our office done at our new house, but 5 months had passed and they still not finish with the work due to bad measurements that the designer took back in April. We have call too many times and they do not resolve the issue. Some unfinished cabinets are still hanging there at my wall. MY husband and I are VERY VERY UNHAPPY!

We personally own a business, and we are very attentive to customers. We know that Customers should always be first!. I cannot believe how Closet Factory company does not give a fly about their customers. On top of that! they are overpriced. I know that because I called 3 other companies and compared the estimates. Finally, we decided to go with another company that is doing my second office/library that offers good quality, good timing, and good prices$.

Designer and builders were a delight to work with, and they were able to install both of my walk in closet systems efficiently and without delay. This vendor is on the pricier side of options, but solid work and love my drawer fixtures etc. I went through costco so was able to get a cashback card as well.

Our designer, Jodi, did a great job. We had two very large MBR closets, one extremely so. The mix of racks, shelves, drawers and doors turned out better than expected. Plus she engineered a peninsula that saved us some walking space without sacrificing storage. The construction crew was very good. No complaints at all. They called ahead of visiting, wore masks, covered floors and completed both closets in less than 2 days.

All the parts and pieces were available so no delays. They gave us a good review on how to reorient rods and shelves and how to clean the cabinets without damaging the surfaces. The granite counter subcontractor, Terra Stoneworks, was also excellent. The techs were very polite, measurement was perfect and they completed the install in an hour. We had a great overall experience.

When you know your old closet needs an upgrade, look no further than the Closet Factory in Tysons. We considered doing it ourselves by checking out some of their competition, but when I considered the complexity of the end result that we imagined, we gave CF the call. The appointment was kept as scheduled by Moogie K., the CF designer. We discussed what we wanted and showed her our 30-year-old closet.

She made some quick measurements and then a sketch that incorporated everything we wanted and a little more. She made more measurements which she turned into a set of drawings that brought our imagination to life in black and white. We were very fortunate to meet Moogie because of her insightful warm personality and her attention to detail that moved our ideas into a grand plan.

We approved the plan which was then sent to the CF factory and we were given an estimated delivery date. Moogie accommodated our budget by considering that we would do the demolition, trash disposal, and repainting all of which was not a problem for me. She returned to make final measurements and noted that our paint (white) was shiny and dry before the job was started. (We passed her inspection.) The CF installer, Morris, arrived ahead of the estimated time and set the installation in process.

It took him about five hours because we had our closet totally ready for the new and much improved shelving design. When he was finished, it looked just like her drawing--picture perfect! Moogie stopped by to see her finished design which met all the criteria that the engineer in her soul would want to put in place. This closet will be here for as long as our house is here. J&EH

. With an online inquiry, I was paired with Susan who expeditiously made an appointment. I was a first-time homeowner with big eyes, a grand blueprint, and a small budget. Susan I soon discovered was not only an asset to Closet Factory but making my house into my dream home. I have consulted her for two projects, my walk-in closet and murphy bed for the study/guest room.

She has held my hand during life changes and shared a laugh while offering advice to me (an adult in training). To say she goes above and beyond in an understatement. She is personable, professional, and from listening to her--caters to each client's needs, requests, and financial dynamic. She was informative, communicative, and accommodating prior to our arrival.

At the in-home consultation, she came prepared with wood and handle samples, measuring equipment, and doggie treats. We sat and discussed my ideal projects and on the spot, she sketched the design according to my wishes, her expertise, and discussed options to maintain the project's pricepoint. Between projects, Susan lended her expertise and esthetic talents to discuss potential projects, ensuring the project we did was still up to standard, and assisting with locating a lighting fixture in the brochure. Installation was organized, prompt, neat, courteous, and professional. The quality is just as exceptional as the customer service and installation. I look forward to working with susan on my next project in the next property!

Closet Factory created my dream closet last year and this year we asked them to create a drop zone/mud room type area. Michelle, the designer, came up with awesome ideas and found a way to make it work! We are so happy with how everything turned out - we will always use Closet Factory for closet redesigns and built-ins! Love them!

While our designer was amazing the execution and building process was terrible. We were having several areas done in our new house. We narrowed it down to Closet factory and Closets by Design. Although Closet Factory was a little more expensive I decided to go with them for our huge master closet and use Closets by Design for other closet and office because I loved the closet factory designer. Closet factory took longer to set up installation, once here they had ordered the wrong materials for a couple items, used our garage as a work station and left sawdust all over our belongings and the final product is lacking.

We paid over $15k for the master closet and shouldn't have these bandaid type fixes. It appears they messed up the measurements and instead and correcting it tried to patch. This is also after several trips by the manager out to our property to try to resolve. While this seems nice it was a huge inconvenience as we both work. While the customer service was great at first, they took our final payment without authorization and wouldn't respond to me after I complained about the overall finished product and timeline. DO NOT USE THEM! Closets by Design is quicker, less expensive and looks better.

I need to share my positive experience with Closet Factory. I worked with Ronna Rosenberg and Nick Connell. Ronna was my designer. Nick was my installer. This was an all-star combination, and I recommend both of them for their high-quality work and excellent customer service. I first met with Ronna to go over design ideas. She walked through my home, looked at the possibilities, and came up with ideas immediately.

She had a catalog of materials on her, showed me what we could do, and then talked me through the options. She helped me visualize the possibilities for my closets, all the while making it clear that she was doing her best to maximize the available closet space. She was kind, funny, and endlessly patient with my questions. Then we scheduled the installation, and I got to work with Nick. Nick showed up on time, was prepared, and worked flawlessly.

He is the consummate professional; consistently working as quickly as possible to minimize the stress on my household. When issues arose, he dealt with them with a smile. Both Nick and Ronna have a wonderful ability to think on their feet, which is critical when doing something as complicated as closet design and installation. They ended up having to do the installation in two parts because there was, naturally, a significant complication during the process: one of my closet walls had been damaged by a prior resident of my apartment months before the installation and the wall needed repair and I didn't know about it!

But rather than derail the process, everyone involved shined. Nick immediately diagnosed the issue, and called Ronna. Ronna immediately let me know what I needed to do, and then Closet Factory was extremely kind to me: rather than charge me for an additional installation visit, they assured me that they would return to finish the process after I had remedied the issue.

Even though custom closets from closet factory are not cheap, they were worth it in my opinion. When it comes to permanent structures in your home, you get what you pay for. Guests really admire my closets because they are beautiful and functional, and I am happy to have paid for a high-quality product delivered in a high-quality way.

My wife and I had a custom closet built with Mike Centrella from the closet factory and it was a great experience and amazing result. Mike and his office was very accommodating even changing the original installation date as our new house ran into some delays. We had some special request built in including surround mirrors and other items in a large room size closet and his team did a fantastic job working with my builder. Very satisfied with the result.

Had work done at my house and then referred my mom to the same designer and company. There were issues that came up with the work at my mom's house but the issue was resolved and the owner got in touch with my mom and took care of a full refund and personally took care of a situation that was disappointing. I appreciate the manner in which my mom was taken care of.

The designer I worked with was so difficult, I gave up and paid 25% more with another company. A dozen emails and the designer still didn't make the changes I wanted. She insisted on telling me what she thought I wanted. The designer's manager called to try to save the relationship, but really, who wants to deal with that? Custom closets are supposed to be a luxury and not the source of another headache. If you want bargain closets, you get bargain staff.

I rarely write reviews, but in this case, I had to because of the great design and service provided by Deb Broockerd and her team. We have undergone a total house renovation with a modern aesthetic and Closet Factory came through on all fronts. The work was for our mud room and home office. During the design process, we were deciding between Closet by Design, California Closets, and a few other companies (all of which were companies we used/trusted in the past for our previous home), but Closet Factory beat the competition on all fronts - design, materials selections, and price! Deb came out and understood our needs right away, and in a matter of days, she was able to nail down the exact design we wanted.

She is not a designer that has to get everything her way. She listened to us and our ideas, worked through various alternatives, and even spent a good deal of time trying to find the exact "modern" legs we were looking for! She was upfront and honest of costs from the beginning. She was highly responsive and worked through the weekend (we have emails and texts to prove it), ultimately giving us not only the best design but a price that was better than all the competition.

It is important to mention that we encountered some unfortunate delays in our renovation, so we have had to reschedule installation several times. In fact, we wound up having to install the mud room and home office separately. Deb and her team never protested but worked with us throughout, accommodating our timeline until the very end. This was one of the few bright spots in what was a very challenging renovation project.

During installation, the team was meticulous, clean, and efficient. We noticed some really minor chips/scuffs on one of the original doors installed in the mudroom. I let Deb know immediately after the install, and she came out herself to inspect, and without question, said it would be taken care of - and it was when the home office was installed. Again, I don't ever write Yelp reviews but I can't overstate how thankful we are to Closet Factory. Deb and her team did great work and we highly recommend!

Karen was easy to work with. She kept on it until I was 100% satisfied. I felt it was a fair price & the installation went well.

My experience with Closet Factory was problem free. The designer came to my home and helped me to design the shelves I needed. Our new home had little space for book shelves, so I decided to have some shelves custom made that would fit the space available. When the installers arrived they worked quickly and efficiently. They definitely had experience and knew just how to approach the job.

They left the workplace clean and neat. My shelves came out just as planned and I am very pleased with the results. When I decide to have more built-ins added to my home, I will definitely call Closet Factory.
