I had a pleasant experience working with Steven from Opulands. He was responsive to my inquiries about backyard landscaping and came onsite twice to look at our garden. He was knowledgeable and patient in answering my questions and concerns. He later thoroughly assessed and walked us through the proposal of our backyard design based on my needs & ideas. While we decided to take a slower approach to our backyard design in the end, I would call Steven when we are ready to pick up the project again.

Opulands demolished my old deck and installed a beautiful new paver patio in my backyard and a walkway in my side yard. The crew worked hard (they even came on a Saturday) and finished the job quickly. A few finishing items took a bit of time but it's all good. The price was very reasonable too. Service: Hardscaping

I met Steven at the San Jose Home improvement fair. After meeting with Steven again at our home, my wife and I decided he would be a great fit to move forward with our project. Steven was very patient and spent several sessions with us on planning and envisioning the details. Through rough 3D renderings that Steven prepared with our input, it became more and more clear what we wanted.
Fast forward a few months and I am extremely satisfied with the outcome. Steven was essential as our point person to manage so many moving parts to such an extensive project. The workmanship shows in the details. We love the colored lights and enjoy experimenting on our 'American Muscle Grill' that Steven installed. I would highly recommend Steven!

We met Steven from Opulands in Los Gatos at the rotary. Steven came over the next day and spent over several months a lot of time with my husband and I designing what turned out to be an awesome new backyard. We love the paver patio, fire pit, smoker and BBQ island. My 2 year old son is in love with the lawn, seating benches and his new play area.

TLDR: Steven and Opulands gave an amazing facelift to my backyard and did so in a very efficient, cost effective manner. I took multiple quotes from various contractors and Steven's quote came out to be among the most competitive ones; it provided the good value at a reasonable cost.

Initial Meeting and project planning
Our backyard was practically unusable and had last been remodeled 20+ years back.
We wanted to get some paver stones installed along with steps and a retaining wall around the perimeter where we could plant some shrubs etc. During the initial meetings Steven spent a considerable amount of time with me trying to understand our needs and measuring the area. No other contractor who had come for an estimate had done that.
Implementation
Once we had finalized the scope of the project, my wife and I met Steven at his materials supplier store where we selected the stone type/finish etc. Steven was able to begin our project within 10 days from the date of the finalization; again something that most other contractors were unable to offer.
Most of them had long wait times. The crew, led by Marvin was very respectful to us and our neighbors. There were few places in the project where we had to update the initial design and scope due to the varying gradient and other factors. For most of these, we went with Steven's recommendations and have no complaints about those. Steven and Marvin were always reachable and constantly communicating about the project goals and progress.
All in all, the whole process, despite its scale went pretty overall. Steven was able to deliver on his estimated project timeline of 3 weeks (plus a few days because of rain related delays).

Opulands has been a sheer pleasure to work with. This was my first experience with a landscaping project and I feel really content with the outcome.
Many colleagues, friends and family have commented on the amazing job and are now planning to get in touch with Steven to see if he can help them do the same.
Steven has promised 5 years of workmanship warranty and while I hope I won't have to call him back for fixing any stuff, however I have faith that if needed, he will promptly address them.

Steven and his crew transformed our backyard! Right from the start Steven was very helpful, from presenting design options to choosing material Steven was very helpful. The project date was set, and Steven kept us updated throughout. Once the project started Steven and his crew were awesome. Marvin his foreman ensured that everything was done to the specifications.
The crew were very detail oriented and and ensured that after every workday the site was cleaned up. When we wanted a few design changes, Steven worked with us to ensure all our needs were met. A wonderful experience working with Steven and his crew. We love our backyard!

Similar to other reviews, I found that this company is really, truly, a class act. Steven, the owner of the company was our contact person and his ability to discern what we wanted is unmatched compared to any of the other people we spoke with. His bid came in much lower then two of the other companies we had invited, although they understandably were not the lowest bid.
His recommendations were spot on and we are thrilled with our new front yard for which we often receive compliments from neighbors and pedestrians about how colorful a garden we have. We love the uniquely curved walkway to our home and perfectly cut round porch. I would highly recommend this company, and I am glad to say we now have a friend in the paver and landscape business.

I got several estimates and finally decided to go with Steven, because he showed me that he knows what he is doing. As the project started, Steven did what I expected. The team (led by Marvin, please ask for him if possible) showed up as scheduled and completed the project within two weeks as planned. Although the project went over my initial budget due to unexpected couple small modifications (it would help to think as comprehensive as possible about the project in advance to avoid these unexpected items, which is hard though because you do not know what is happening underground) and my new request to add an Anglia edger (which turned out to be great), Steven is responsive and wants to do an excellent job.
He also paid attention to small details; for example, his suggestion to use a different color for the border pavers turned out to be a really good one, although he is willing to go any color you like. He even gave me some free stone gravels for a small area in another part of my backyard. I like those workers led by Marvin. They are hard workers (as a result, I gave every worker tips and some snacks and drinks every single day).
These workers knew what I wanted based on my description and would correct their work to make it in the way I preferred. Marvin showed up multiple times by himself and cared about the quality of his work. He asked his staff to redo some part of the pavers because they did not go as planned. I would like to emphasize the importance for homeowners to participate, because they are the consumers who know what they really want.
Whenever necessary, you may simply ask, and the workers will try their best to follow your preference. After the project, I did some extra work in my backyard (not part of the contract) and now the backyard looks quite pleasant and much better than the old one. This was my first experience involving a backyard renovation. Luckily, Steven and his crew at Opulands held my hand, and answered all of my questions and concerns as they walked me through the process. Opulands was able to take my general idea and concept, and turn it into a reality, and all within budget! They turned my patch of dead grass into a beautiful Victorian paver-stone patio with pergola boardered by a dogleg left!
During the COVID, my elderly father was unable to frequent the links the way he used to, so we brought the course to him, and he loves it! We can't wait to share our new backyard with our friends and family! I hired Steven last year and have him clean up a big mess of a job to rid my backyard of an old patio, spa tub and cracked concrete. Steven did a wonderful turnkey job demoliting the old backyard and designing and building one from scratch. Yes there were delayed a bit, and did have a 10% or so increase in price due to unforeseen additions I wanted but didn't realize it earlier, but Steven was honest throughout the process and the entire experience was great. It was the best value and best engagement I had in this line of business.
