PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY. The 1 star is there only for appreciating the guy showing earlier than expected. Everything went wrong besides that. I spend $119 for the technician visit and IT WAS a TOTALLY WASTE OF MONEY. The technician was lying and did not know the AC system at all. I am just naming a few: 1. The guys inspected the system and stated the blower motor is the cause of the failure (which is true); however, the technician says because this is a high-end model, so changing the motor will be very DIFFICULT ~while later I discovered that only two screws are needed to be removed the blower motor. 2.

The quote is extremely unreasonable high (quote at $1950), while later I discovered the motor only cost at most $300, and the workload is about a half-hour; so basically the technician was asking for $1750 for half hour workload. 3. The technician did not even inspect the capacitor of the motor, and wanted to replace the entire unit (for $9900+). After I asked him why he does not inspect the capacitor, he states that this unit does not have one, which is not true, and another lying behavior. 4.

The technician was pushing to a deal and saying there is only 1 motor available, which is AGAIN not true. I found many availabilities online on different websites and warehouses. And at the end, the technician left the house with not even plugging my outdoor AC unit switchback. There are more than what I have mentioned that went absolute wrong and I don't understand why this company gets 4+star on yelp. BE AWARE!

Please - if you're going to use this company, verify what you're told. We just moved to the area a year ago, so when our neighbor swore that DM Select Services was the only company to call for our a/c repair (it quit working)- I called. The young lady who answered our call was courteous, friendly and professional. I was very pleased with their ability to get Patrick out to our house the next day.

Their service fee seemed reasonable and I felt comfortable with 90% of Patrick's advice. His service seemed thorough and quick. I know just enough about a/c units to have an idea of what was wrong and Patrick confirmed- the system was low on R22 refrigerant (Freon) and the coil for the compressor had gone out. He replaced the parts, but told me that it wouldn't work for long because it was very low on R22 and there was no more R22 available.

He explained the history of R22, which I already knew most of, and told me the only option was to replace the entire system. This is where I became nervous because he quoted a price off the top of his head for a new Carrier system. In my profession we say that "the appearance of impropriety is as bad as the impropriety itself. How could he possibly know the exact amount and instantly recall the number?

He hadn't even seen the interior unit or duct system, but said it was all inclusive - $9,500 installed inside and out. His next statement made me more concerned as it is frequently used in high pressure tactics. He said that if we decided before June 1, he'd deduct the $500 service charge from the install cost. I asked several questions to explore the issue, but he quickly shut down the questions with the emphasis on how little time I had to decide.

He reminded me several times that the current a/c was not repairable due to the R22 issue and that it wouldn't last without R22. He made it clear that R22 hadn't been available for two years. Due to Patrick's statements feeling false to me, I googled it and to my surprise- Freon is available from many suppliers. I was even able to order it myself as long as I ordered it in 2lb containers or less.

I was beyond upset and after a few emails received a call from their GM Tim. He danced around the statements for a while before saying that Patrick had told "half truths" about Freon. It is available, but his company chooses not to stock it- although he later acknowledged he has a 25lb can of it in his service truck. He denied that Patrick was trying to sell me a new unit using false statements and again called them half truths that were the result of poor training. Regardless, my 72 yr old neighbor who recommended them was also upset about the "half truths" she was told that made her buy a new a/c. I'm pleased to say I found a different company that is happy to install my Freon for a $90 service call.

They can call it half truths all they want, I believe it is called theft by fraud and although I'm not familiar with Virginia laws- in every other state I've lived in this is called Financial Fraud of an Elder in the case of my neighbor. Please be careful- bigger isn't always better. Ps- Tim referred to company as "ARS" which could explain a lot.

American Residential Services is a massive corporation out of Memphis, but DM Select claims to be a "small.family owned business" on their website. Something doesn't add up, but that's not for me to decide- I'll refer my neighbor to state criminal investigators to figure out what lies may have been told and if those lies constitute a criminal violation. Update- I found out just how badly they ripped me off when I jumped online to check the parts the installed.

One part was under $12 and the other was available for under $30. The technician took less than 15 mins installing both. I believe these people are straight up criminals and you should avoid them at all cost.

Last weekend our heat stopped working due to a bad thermostat and 20+ year old system. After I checked all the breakers and all the trouble shooting that I knew of it was time to call for some help. I called two well known companies and DM Select and DM was the only company that had a reliable call back system and or answered the phone. Jamie came out and promptly and fixed our system due to a wire that i miss connected on the new thermostat.

System then failed again during the night so Jamie came out again and concluded that more then likely our control board on the air handler was on its way out. He gave me a couple of quotes for a new system on my request and we picked one that I thought best fit our needs and budget with no pressure from DM Services. The heat pump unite was on back order but they went and picked up the unit and it was ready the next day to get installed.

The installers Shawn and Johnathan were highly competent and did a very clean and professional job on our system. They seamed very interested in doing quality work and to me it showed in the install so we are very pleased. Also, a hot 120v line was made into a convenient outlet for us as it was originally on a old air quality unite that was long ago obsolete. Entire job only took 8 hrs. Thanks again for the good clean work and fair price for our system.

This is the second time I use this company. I worked with David Dengler he is friendly efficient and knows what he is doing. I had a water leak in my basement that other people couldn't figure out but he came In and made sure he found the problem and fixed it. It was a big project that required some work with drilling some concrete but they left the site clean and they finished way before the expected time. I will definitely use them again if I need anything.

One of the technicians came out for what I thought it was going to be a thorough diagnosis of my LG wall mounted ac unit. The technician was not trained on how to properly diagnosed the unit. He was not able to. tell weather the liquid fluid was water or something else. He did not even attempted to inspect the unit to find out the problem. He only went as far as open the lid and check the replaceable filters which I had done myself before.

Without having a clue as to what due next, he proceeded to tell me that he would get back to me on what steps to take to result the issue. He was here for less than 30 minutes and I was charged the full diagnostic fee. I have then since reached out to the.

Jim, thank you for your feedback. But I also wanted to let you know that your manager, Dan, is very rude to me, saying that I am not the customer that DM select services wants to work with. And then he just hanged the phone on me without letting me say anything. So I called another HVAc company who sent the technician the next day on 7/9. They quickly identified the cause of condensate dripping, which just need to properly insulate the pipes to prevent the condensate dripping.

So no need to get the Certificate of Insurance to access the roof at all. Added picture of the receipt I got with their diagnosis and the pictures after the problem is fixed. If Robert is as good as you described, he should have provided the correct diagnosis and fixed the problem when he was here on 7/6. Very disappointed at DM selected services and I have been a loyal customer since 2016.

We called DM Select Services to diagnose an A/C unit that was working intermittently. They were quick to respond, came out after hours, and diagnosed the problem. Ultimately we needed a new unit and they were able to get us on the schedule within a few days, which was great. They also provided two portable A/C units for us in the interim time, which was greatly appreciated.

Overall we had a good experience with them in this regard. However, the billing situation has been very disorganized. The payment we made for the service call, which is supposed to be deducted from the invoice, wasn't, so I had to call and follow up to get this resolved. THEN I realized that the 20% deposit I made when I made the installation appointment wasn't deducted from the final invoice, so I am now having to deal with that problem. It's Thursday, and the person who can resolve this apparently isn't back until Monday. OK. So, although the repair techs seem to be fine, the administrative and financial part of this business is a mess.

Not sure I would do business with them again due to this. It's also taken two phone calls to get them to pick up the portable units that they didn't take when they did the installation. It's like none of the parts of the business speak to each other so now it's my responsibility to deal with all of their loose ends. Four phone calls later, I'm still overcharged almost $2,000 and waiting for someone to call me on Monday to fix this. Not the way I want to do business. What could have been a great experience has turned into a drag because their administrative processes are very poor.

Called them yesterday they told they would come out today. They call me today to tell me they can't come today. I'm so mad, today is my only day off for awhile now I have to scramble to find someone to come out. I won't be calling again.

DM Select Services is my go-to HVAC company. It all started with their being very responsive about 4 years ago when my 13 year old gas furnace wasn't operating properly in the middle of a very cold spell in the area; turns out the gas pilot light was dirty, and was a simple fix. The second experience was prompt service to replace an A/C unit a couple of years later, when summer was in full swing.

Third call was made about a year later when the 2nd A/C unit gave out and had to be replaced, again when the temps were rising. And the fourth and most recent was when the old gas furnace mentioned previously finally gave out; I went ahead and got both gas furnaces (upper and lower units) replaced to be proactive, at a discounted price. Great technicians, responsiveness, and experience every time. I will continue to call on DM for all my HVAC and plumbing-related needs.

I ave an HVAC annual contract with DM Select and have tried to hire them for a plumbing job. The plumbers who arrive seem knowledgeable and friendly, but the office staff is lazy or incompetent. Voice mails and email inquiries are Never returned. I even left a vm to renew my contract -- no return call. An email asking for a quote to repair a toilet got no response (it has been a week since sent). I do not plan to renew with this company. Too bad the skilled personnel are undone by an incompetent business office.

Careless techs more interested in upselling than responsibly, carefully carrying out the service they're actually there for. And two weeks plus waiting on a call back for plumbing services - DM Select clearly doesn't want or need to maintain clients they've had for years.

Christian is outstanding. We requested that he returned to do our spring service. He arrives on time and explains everything that he is doing and answers all questions. A+ Thank you.

Amazing Service I was a bit flustered because I had to get a second COVID-19 shot today. Thought I was having a regular maintenance check, Had no idea I had problems with the Air Conditioner that would definitely been a problem as the warm weather approaches. Jeremy Allen and Tyrone Mccuistion are a great team. They could tell I was about to never call DM Select again.

They were very thoughtful and professional and reassured me and explained what was happening to my Air Conditioner. I am thankful that they came because I could tell they were concerned about my budget and knowing it is really hard out here. They are the kind of guys you would invite for dinner

Bi-annual checkup with Jeremy Allen of DM Select, could not be more pleased. Safe distancing, knew the equipment, had and took the time to look up my history with DM Select to see when work had been done previously. Cleaned the equipment, reset the humidifier for the season, cleaned the outdoor coils to improve performance and extend the life of my HVAC equipment.

Inside cleaning the drain lines keeps my equipment from backing up and now grandkids and family are safe and ready for summer to come. I appreciated the office staff accommodating my timing needs for the appointment, got it just when I had time to open the house and get the work started. I used DM Select Services to replace my water heater (after dealing with the headache of a home warranty company for 2 weeks with no hot water). DM Select Services came to provide an estimate within the hour and were able to replace my water heater that same afternoon. They did a great job, were safe, picked up my old water heater a week later, and came to dial the water heater down after I called. They're great. I highly recommend this business!

One of the owners (Jim) called me to discuss why I was unhappy with the service. After I told him what was wrong, he asked for time to look into it. Jim called me today and said they had misread the technician's time card, and that they would be making an adjustment to our bill. I appreciated their desire to correct a mistake and am very happy with the service.

I've used DM Select Services twice: once for water heater repair, and once for garbage disposal repair. Both times, they fixed the problems and didn't try to upsell me on replacement. As a landlord who lives thousands of miles away from my property, I really have to rely on the integrity of the repairmen to honestly assess problems and fix them.

My tenants were happy with how quickly I was able to schedule repairs and how professional the repairmen were. I don't see myself using any other company for repairs that fall within DM's range of services.

I asked DM Select Services to come by and clear a clogged kitchen sink. I'm not 100% incompetent on the plumbing front. I took the trap out to clear it and ran my auger down the main, but it didn't reach far enough to hit the clog. I could go buy a better one, but thought I would call these guys instead. Super glad I did. They definitely took care of me. We thought we got thru the clog but it didn't take. They even came back to make sure that the job was done. Chris was awesome; would definitely use them again.

Our central air system, going on 20 years old, decided to give up the ghost on one of the hottest days this summer. DM Select had a technician out that morning. Dave tried his best to get the system going, but a power surge had killed it. Like many other manufacturing facilities, air conditioner manufacturers had closed for COVID and had a long backlog. DM Select managed to find us a suitable Carrier system and get it installed a few days later.

They also discouraged us from "upgrading" to a higher-capacity system. It's such a pleasure these days not to be upsold! Like the previous visit, the techs wore shoe coverings and masks while installing our new system, again on a very hot day. It's nice and cool in our house again. DM Select has always provided great service to us. Previously, DM Select replaced our aging HVAC system. More recently, DM Select provided a shower repair. They could have made a significant repair that would have cost us a lot of money. Instead, DM Select provided us with a supplemental diagnostic that determined a much simpler and inexpensive repair was all that was needed, at a quarter of the original price. Great work Tommy Davis and David Dengler!

Carl C was timely and responsive when he did the annual maintenance of our AC. He worked quickly, replaced the filter, and checked the outdoor unit. All is working well. Carl wore a mask due to the pandemic. Thank you Carl for being respectful! LH

Responsive, very organize and works cleanly. We needed our upstairs 20 year old unit replaced. Alex and his crew came 10 minutes early, asked a few questions and began work. They protected the floors and wore shoe covers while inside the house. The install was a few hours and they worked quietly. Finally have the AC running again just in time for the summer heat. Great work and highly recommended.

After getting several quotes on a new HVAC, I did choose to use DM. They arrived at the exact time scheduled and did a fantastic job with the installation. Our heat pump/AC and furnace quit unexpectedly right before Thanksgiving. DM Select Services was the first ones available to come out and have us a quote to replace both. After calling around for a few quotes DM Select Services came in at the lowest price by a few thousand so we had them come out. In July our AC quit working on the hottest day of the year, so I called them up after hours and they were able to come out the next day. The service tech was able to immediately diagnose and solve the problem all at no charge to us as it falls within the 10 year warranty. Great company, I highly recommend.

These guys seem to know their stuff. I was getting a slight amount of icing on the coil in the air handler, which I've seen before, so I called them to schedule a recharge of the Puron. The tech who came out said he installed my make and model of heat pump for about six years so he knew it well. He checked the thermostat for error codes and then ran a diagnostic test to check for problems.

It turns out the Puron wasn't low, instead the valve in the coil was stuck in one position, which was causing the icing. The coil was also a bit rusted out so we decided to replace the whole coil with a new aluminum version. Everything is now back up and running and it's even pumping out colder air than it was before the repair, so that's an added bonus.

Just got a new AC system installed by Kyle and Larry. They were the best. Kyle explained everything about my new system; things I had not known re ACs. They had to work in an inconvenient location, but were efficient and cleaned up after themselves. I have had a lot of experiences with contractors (mostly unsatisfactory) and am picky, but these guys met my expectations and beyond. Also, the price was excellent value (had checked with 2 other companies, and DM Select was nearly $1,000 lower.

Swift and great service! Our HVAC system died after about 8 years (installed by a different company) and the Freon used for it was no longer produced. I was given several different options to fix/replace our system and decided to go with the 10 year warranty / 10 year service plan. Andrew was very quick to respond and go over everything with me prior to Bean and Alex's arrival the next day.

When Bean and Alex worked, they were great at explaining everything and managed not to trample on our garden (big bonus) despite needing to bring in a big HVAC unit across the garden. They worked professionally, quickly, and upon completing the job; cleaned. I highly recommend and will definitely be using DM when installing our next unit!

My AC wasn’t working properly on a Fri. night I reached to DM Select Services for a quote that night and by the next day the technician (Andrew) arrived & was very thorough in identifying the issue as well as pointed out some other underlying issues. Provided a (very decently priced) quote with no pressure and then when I decided to have the work done.

I scheduled the work and Andrew returned (on time) to redo some duct work, replaced a broken valve, and redid the AC run off. Andrew did an awesome job! This morning I discovered for the first time a trail of water originating from my condensate pump...a part of a new furnace system DM Select Services had installed in my home a few weeks ago. I reported the problem later that morning and Patrick, the repair technician was dispatched the same day to investigate. He appeared this afternoon, right on time, just as the dispatcher had promised.

He was very courteous and professional...introducing himself on arrival and then immediately began trouble-shooting. It wasn't long before he identified the problem...a failed barbed fitting/vinyl tubing connection. He quickly and efficiently repaired the connection. Then he tested it a couple of times to ensure that it was now operating as it should.

I witnessed the repaired unit and saw no leaks present. The customer service I received from Patrick, and from the dispatcher who took my call this morning, was truly excellent.

To be honest, I found a water leak in my house and jumped on yelp and started calling any company I could find. Since it was after hours no one would send someone out to my home. But then I called DM Select and one of their techs called me back within minutes. He came by the house and we diagnosed the issue as a leaky HVAC system. Not the best news but now I know.

Demo team came out a few days later and ripped up my damaged floor and I discovered that the water was still coming into my apt even after we shut off the water in my unit.

I called DM Select and they sent the tech back to my place and found the source of the water, which was not the HVAC unit. Ended up being a hidden drain underneath my HVAC. In short DM Select did not overcharge me or trick me into buying the unit when clearly I didn't need it. They are available for any emergency you might run into and their staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They are my new go-to company for anything HVAC or plumbing related.

Larry D helped us today. He was friendly and thorough. He was very fast too! He installed our new AC unit and the exchange in our attic. He also took the time to give me pointers on running our unit efficiently. I had my hands full most of the day and had little interaction though he updated me throughout the day. He clearly knows what he is doing and has the confidence and care of a very skilled technician. DM is lucky they have Larry.

Steve Hylton was the service pro tech that worked on our air conditioner that unexpectedly stopped cooling. We were given a 1:00-6:00 p.m service window and Steve arrived promptly at 1:00! He was courteous, well informed and worked diligently until my system was up and running again. Steve also answered all of my questions (I had a lot of them) and gave me some good tips on the importance of regular maintenance on our systems.

After 25 years, our HVAC finally stopped cooling. We tried to get by with just adding Freon but the tech (Steve) informed us it needed more than that and it would be expensive. He gave us an estimate for a new system and then made sure there was a smooth hand-off to the installation team. He was very honest and courteous and even called back to make sure everything was going well after the installation.

The installation team (Rich, Alex and Yaw) showed up on time and worked hard all day to install our new system. They covered the floor, wore booties inside and cleaned up after the installation was complete. The team took the time to explain how the systems (heat pump, air handler, humidifier and wireless thermostat) worked. The hot weather returned a couple days after the install and we were nice and cool.

The recent cold snap has also given us the opportunity to try out the heat and it sure is much warmer than our old system. Very happy with the products and the DM Select team. Thank you!

Came home yesterday afternoon it's 80 degrees inside the house. The 90 degree October day did the HVAC system in. Called and DM Select was out that same afternoon and today in less than 24 hours the house is cool with a new Trane furnace and AC unit. Will sleep well tonight.

My garbage disposal broke on a Saturday and was leaking water under my sink. I called Select for a quote - I left a VM and Stephen called me back quickly. He quoted the most competitive price for a new disposal and installation and was willing to come same day. He advised me that if I collected the water with a bucket it could wait until Monday and I could avoid paying the emergency service fee.

We did just that. On Monday, Stephen came toward the end of the window (which they were kind enough to let me know in advance), wore booties when he entered the house, and installed a new disposal, no problems. He was polite, efficient, and knew what he was doing. We will definitely keep his card for the next time we need a plumber!

I called Select about my problem and they had someone out the next day even with a bad winter storm forecast. He quickly diagnosed the problem. They had to order the part but within a couple of days, a tech was back out to my house and installed the part. I would definitely recommend them to take care of your hvac needs.

This will be the first review I have ever written. Andrew from DM Select Services has been to our house multiple times and wish I wrote a review for him last time when he came out multiple times to trouble shoot an issue with our hot water heater. I lost the card he gave me and never reached back out to him until we needed him again, this time for our A/C unit.

Within an hour he was at our doorstep to fix the issue! They communicated what the problem was and how they were going to fix it and even give us options on how we could save money if we couldn't afford a whole system replacement at the time. I will continue to recommend them and use them in the future. DM Select and technician Brian S., in particular, have serviced out HVAC units since we moved back to Arlington in 2017. We have replaced a builder unit with one from DM Select and have been more than pleased. However, it is the fact that they are an honest company with honest employees who not only give you the correct information, they get ahead of an inevitable problem.

We are about to have our second unit replaced with DM Select and know that the install and future service will be exemplary like the first! If you are using DM Select for your HVAC needs, you need to call them TODAY and switch!

DM Select came today to install a new heat pump in our rental property. I'm very please with the job the guys performed. It was Richard, Danny, and a third gentleman who's name I did not catch. All three were very professional, respectful of the property, punctual, and informative. They completed the job in the time frame we were given. They install water safety features as a part of the install fee (no extra cost), which many other companies do not do. Andrew was also there to do a leak check of the property and repairs to plumbing. Again, he was punctual, informative, professional, and quick.
