I switched last year from Argent to BMC Clower. Wow what a huge improvement. BMC Clower has been very quick and responsive in emergencies. They have had the necessary replacement parts on hand in the truck or back in the office. That was not the case with Argent. I never knew service could be this good.

Critical: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness Because of their careless actions our house flooded after they refused in the winter to come turn on the heat after their install. Pipes froze and magically on the morning they finally agreed to come mysteriously water incident the morning of. Not professional, they pretend to be nice at first be careful. Service: Install AC

I had a 5 zone mini-split system installed by BMC/Clower in July 2020. It worked perfectly through the end of last summer. When I turned it on for the first time this spring, it was not blowing cold air. I called them for service. The technician said that the refrigerant had all leaked out. He refilled it, then said that I needed to wait a month before the leak can be located. (I now know that this isn't true.) I asked if the next appointment would be automatically scheduled for me or did I need to call their office again?
And he said "you need to call us." A month later, I called and as soon as I said my name, the person said "oh sorry we haven't scheduled your next appointment yet!" (doesn't match what the technician said) "We've been so busy! But we expect to do your job Thursday or Friday of this week." When I called again on that Friday, "we're still so busy! It won't be this week." I called again 1.5 weeks later, and was told "one of our techs has been out this week. We'll get to your job next week!" I called again two weeks later, a different person answered the phone and said "the person you need to speak to can't come to the phone right now.
Can she call you back?" She didn't, and that was a week ago. I'm using a lot of exclamation points because these people are very oily. I decided that if their reasons were legitimate, they wouldn't be handling it like this. I asked a second HVAC contractor for a consultation. I explained the whole situation, and he said that finding a leak in a 5 zone system could potentially be a very labor intensive job.
His company would send a two-person crew ($250/hour) and it could take an entire day. About $2000. He speculated that BMC/Clower is trying to avoid having to do this job for free, as I am still under a 1 year warranty for their labor. In hindsight, before the installation, the owner said it would be done in two days. In reality it took three entire days.
The crew worked diligently the whole time. The extra day didn't seem like a big deal at the time, but now I wonder if the owner has a habit of scheduling unrealistic turnarounds. Which would mean the crews are always behind schedule, and working under time pressure. This would explain why they did a less than thorough job, and can't find time for the all the problems they need to go back and fix.
Right now, the AC still works. The leak is small enough that it will probably be next spring before I need it fixed. I'm going to budget $2000 so I can hire the other contractor to repair the leak. I wouldn't trust BMC/Clower to do the repair now, even if they wanted to do it for free.

Great technician, but rude and condescending receptionist. The tech came out because someone already in my neighborhood canceled. We agreed to a last minute appointment. He could not hear or find anything wrong with the system. We paid the $98 diagnosis fee without the diagnosis. We were asked to record the night noise and reschedule. I tried to reschedule and the receptionist told me that they will still charge me another $98 because "when you go to a car repair and they can't hear a noise that you brought the car in for, you still have to pay". Um, no I don't and have never heard of that logic.
I also own a business and would never treat a customer like that. So I would spend almost $200 without any work being done on the heating system. Taking my business elsewhere.

Had an ok experience with BMC Clower. We're doing renovations to our home and thought that this was a great time to also install a minisplit system. The owner seemed great and he walked us through the system they'd install and it all sounded good and fairly reasonably priced. We had a number of miscommunications during the installation and there were some frustrating moments, but they worked with us and were generally responsive to feedback. The installation of the line hides took longer than they estimated, but now that they're installed, the whole system looks pretty great.

This place came highly recommended and the consistent five star reviews are impressive. Maybe they do the best work at the best price. I doubt I will ever know because they won't schedule me, return my phone calls, respond to the email they asked me to send or otherwise engage. This has been going on for nearly a month. My home is less than two miles from their location so this is not a service area issue. They're simply not being responsive and that's a huge disappointment.

Top to bottom I had a first rate experience with BMC. They gave me ideas on how and where to install a mini-split that others hadn't, came back with a fair estimate, and did great work. They left the job site clean, and were great while they were in the house. Then after the fact they were incredibly responsive and helpful in helping me clean up some paperwork issues that were my own fault - I love when companies give that kind of service after they got paid, not just before. I highly recommend them.

This is one first class company. I had a new heat pump installed and couldn't be more pleased with the service provided. I contacted several companies only to be greeted with sales people trying to pry the most money out of me. Not B.M.C. Clower. My first person to person interaction with the company was the owner. He went over the entire project with me and provided me with a price that obviously did not include all the sales staff markups that I was encountering with every other company. The install techs couldn't of been more professional and treated my house as if it were their own. If you are in the market for anything heating and air stop right here.

I have used BMC Clower for seven years now and have been impressed by their professionalism and how customer focused they are. They know their customers by name. Sarah is amazing and she understands the sense of urgency and the technicians are very knowledgeable. I had an issue with heating system recently and the time coordination needed to be done with a third person and they worked around their availability.
The customer service is A+++ The annual maintenance contract is amazing value and they are quick to respond when you actually have an issue. Highly recommend them to anyone in their area of coverage.

I was seeking an estimate to replace a gas boiler in our 100-year-old home. I called BMC Clower because of the good Yelp reviews and because they were an approved contractor with the DCSEU. The owner, John, came to the house and suggested I have our chimney checked out and capped (I didn't even know the chimney cap was missing) before spending a small fortune on the boiler.
We did and then he sent Joe to the house to fire up the boiler that we shut off a few months earlier. Joe was great, very thorough, even going through the house to bleed all the radiators. Ultimately, though, the boiler just needed replacing. I did not go with BMC Clower to do that job as I got a lower estimate from another company for a higher efficiency boiler. I really did like John and Joe and appreciated them trying to see if we didn't need to spend the money on the new boiler to start. I recommend them.

This review is long overdue. Clower replaced my upstairs unit and completely rebuilt the duct system in my attic. They were a pleasure to deal with. Everybody was very professional (Sarah, Kayt and John and also the team that worked at my home, headed by Matt). They were always very responsive even with a couple of slight issues that needed to be addressed. Highly recommend!

I wanted to share my experience here because the great reviews on Yelp is what led me to use BMC Clower. They serviced our furnace once and unclogged a drain from our furnace for us and I was generally satisfied with their service (tech was a bit too chatty, cost to unclog drain seemed a bit high but whatever). Recently we got a quote from them to change a couple of return vents to supply vents in rooms we had that were cold.
The quote was $1,200 and my husband and I being unknowledgeable about this stuff and busy professionals responded to the email we got with the quote and said that we wanted to proceed with the work. After weeks of not hearing from them and being frustrated that they didn't seem interested in our business, we contacted another HVAC company, they quoted $425 for the same work and also suggested running a carbon monoxide test given the age of our furnace- they said this is something that BMC Clower should have done when they serviced our furnace.
It turns out the levels of Carbon Monoxide were dangerously high and our furnace needs to be replaced. I am very unhappy that our 18 month old has been breathing unhealthy air when BMC Clower should have caught this issue over a year ago. That plus the quote we received that was 3 times as high as the other company's leads me to discourage others from using BMC Clower.

Our A/C died in late May, and we wanted to get a new heat pump installed before the summer temperatures arrived. We got estimates from four different companies and settled on BMC/Clower because of a balance of price, quality and service contract. Two weeks after we selected them, our new Lennox heat pump was installed. It took about a day and a half and worked well from the start.
Love the thermostat.certainly beats the Nest. They returned a couple of months later to install the heating interface. The installers were uniformly polite and neat the whole time.

To start, I should say I give five stars only for surprisingly exceptional, over the top perfect experiences. These folks are awesome. I've totally found my go-to AC people in Silver Spring. Last summer, our AC blower died, not only at the peak of a D.C. summer but also, just a few days before a big party we'd scheduled at our house. A technician came in, diagnosed the problem and requested the part.
The next day he came and installed it. Unfortunately, that part died later that day. The company managed to get another blower the next morning and installed that one; it's been working ever since. We've had them back for an estimate for some work and to help diagnose and fix a leak; they also helped with a wiring issue for a thermostat. Awesome! Don't waste your time calling anyone else.

BMC Clower saved me from the 90 degree heat! My AC wasn't working. When I called, they were able to schedule an appointment with 48 hours. Nick the Technician quickly diagnosed the problem, and everything was resolved within a few days, despite needing to special order the part for my unit. They provided great service. I would definitely call them again.

I had to replace the entire a/c system unexpectedly at the beginning of June. John's proposal was not only fairly priced, but provided insight into how to improve the way the equipment was positioned. Kenny and Matt, the technicians, were professional, polite, diligent, and left the area neat and clean. Sarah, the coordinator, was professional and well organized. Kayte sent the rebate forms and provided an itemized bill on the afternoon the installation was complete.
Very good company to work with, and very good value for the money. And, by the way, I'm already realizing that we made the right decision because of the system features I didn't even realize would be included.

I can't say enough great things about BMC Clower. As a real estate agent, I am always looking for reputable contractors to recommend and am frequently let down by people who make promises and don't deliver. BMC Clower are honest, fair and knowledgeable--which seems to be a rarity in the HVAC industry. I just used them personally on my own home and they installed one of the most energy efficient heat pumps available and did an incredible job.
The previous owners of our home screwed everything up with the HVAC so that the zoned systems were completely unbalanced and running all of the time. Our heating and cooling bills were ridiculous because our systems were running CONSTANTLY. John (the owner) of BMC Clower came out, assessed our system and came up with a plan that revamped all of the things that were wrong with the prior installation including leaking and improperly installed ducts.
He listened to our very specific needs and saved us a ton by showing us how just one Lennox system with electronic dampers could be zoned to do the work of two units. Our system is now zoned and programmable so that rooms of the house that are unoccupied during the day or night aren't constantly being heated/cooled. In addition, the system fan runs at any speed (from 0-100%) when necessary instead of a typical hi-lo speed system.
Our savings were instant once the system was up and running. John's staff even handled all of the rebates that we were eligible for. We received our $1300 Lennox rebate before the system was even fully up and running! I will also mention that we got estimates from several other companies--some good, some bad, some from people that seemed completely clueless and one from a company that wanted way too much money. BMC Clower wasn't the cheapest but they were the best by far. We've had several HVAC systems installed in the past (in 4 other homes) and no one has come close to the quality of the installation of BMC Clower.
I also want to say that the technicians, Kenny and Matt, were super nice guys and hard workers. I noticed that someone posted a negative review based on the fact that they were late or missed an appointment. Really? Come on.judge a company on their work not because they ran over with a customer and missed an appointment. Trust me.they'll stay longer at your home to do the job right if it means being a little late to the next customer.
There are HVAC companies out there that do a good job servicing systems but John and his team know so much more about how to properly install a system for maximum efficiency, air flow and static pressure. I hope this review helps when choosing an HVAC contractor. You will not be disappointed in BMC Clower!

The technician came late on a Saturday morning. No phone call. I was subsequently told by a customer service representative that technicians may come late if they have child responsibilities. In the absence of receiving a phone call, I do not know if this was the technician's issue. Nor do I know if he made a sincere effort to get to my home in downtown Silver Spring, (a mile from the main office), by 8:00 am.
Working night shifts, taking on the responsibility of being ready to go at 8:00 am was burdensome to me. I did not feel appreciated for my effort and neither did I feel respected.

Cannot begin to thank BMC/Clower Heating & AC enough for their quick service and helpful staff. Woke up yesterday to a frozen unit outside. Called their office at 730am and Sarah was so helpful and followed up with me twice during the day to see if the unit had defrosted so she could send a guy out. Joe was here by 230pm once the unit defrosted and diagnosed the problem. Parts have to be ordered but we are assured they will be in and the unit will be fixed before the end of the week.
Also told us how to use our heat pump if needed in the meantime. Great service and most importantly great customer care. I highly recommend BMC/Clower for all your HVAC needs 301-562-9001

Thanks for all of your professional work and advice when we replaced our air conditioning system and when we remediated home inspection items at our old house. We closed on the house last week and I am now forwarding a check. Sorry for the delay. I will not hesitate to recommend your services to clients and neighbors in the future.

The technician, Joe, did an exceptionally good job. He was courteous and left everything as he found it. He asked to borrow a hose to clean the compressor, so I took one from the front yard. He used it at the back of the house on the lower level. After he left, I went to get the hose to return it to the front, but Joe had already put it there. Sometimes it’s the little things that make a big difference. (He also took away the old air filters for disposal – a big convenience).
