I hired JJF Home Improvements b/c I thought if they were in Home Advisors they were a pretty good company. NOTin my opinion and experience dealing with the owner Joe! I contact JJM b/c I wanted to have someone come in and get my bathroom done. I wanted to just pick everything out and have them complete it in the 4 weeks they told me it would take.
The tile, sink top, vanity, floor tile and glass doors I picked out were too pricey for my allowed budget. I was upcharge $971. Two weeks into the job I was told that what I picked out was unavailable. To go Home Depot and pick something (nevermind the fact he told me to NEVER buy tile at Home Depot b/c its garbage). I went to a tile store and discovered how ridiculously low my tile budget really was.
My tile budget was $3.50 sq. ft. Only kind of tile maybe you could get for that price is white subway tile. This is for my 86 year old mother in law.it needed to be nicer than that. So just for the floor and wall tile another $700 to take the tile to the ceiling so it would look nice (which was not in the budget and never discussed with me) The owner Joe, has not updated his contract in 20 years so the budget is way too low for todays prices (I was told by someone).
So everything I picked was an upcharge. The bathroom renovation did not include a medicine cabinet or towel racks either. In total I ended up spending an extra $3000. I have also been trying to get a copy of the electric and plumbing permits for my records as we discussed when he was at my home for the original quote. He has not responded to my many requests for a copy.
Not sure what that tells me. I had also requested my foyer area to have hardwoods installed. He quoted me $4000. Again, just wanting it all to be done. I picked out a floor and when it arrived it was less than 1/2 inch thick for my foyer where there is tons of traffic and someone using a walker on it. So I decided to go to Lumber Liquidators. They quoted me $9000 to do my living room, dining room, foyer and bedroom in solid Maple that is 1 inch thick.
That price pulling up my old flooring as well. I am so thankful I shopped around and I am so thankful I didn't pay everything up front. I'm pretty sure it would have been difficult to get a refund. So as for Joe the owner, I have no respect for him. I would never deal with him again. It is not like me to not research better. He has not said 2 words to me since the contract was signed.
He obviously does not care about referral part of his business. He has made mention to people that he can buy his good reviews and good ratings. I just thought that if he was in Home Advisor he had been checked out. Sorry to say I doubt I will use or recommend Home Advisor again. **I have to add that the gentleman that did my work was a sub-contractor and did a fantastic job.

I hired JJM to renovate the main level of my house, which involved removing several walls to open up the space. The process took about 4 months and was well worth the wait. So very happy with the job and loved the people I worked with. Joe the owner designed the perfect space, Rich who managed the work and Ray who was here everyday to do the work.
These three guys plus a multitude of other people did an excellent job! They have specific work hours and they don't work weekends but I knew that upfront and didn't have a problem with that. I highly recommend this company if you are thinking about renovating anything in your home.

Don't waste your time trying to get them to do work for you. Their hours are unreasonable if you actually have a job and if you expect them to show up at the appointment you will be disappointed. We rescheduled with them twice and they always cancels with VERY little notice. They respect their time enough to not work nights or weekend, but don't respect their customers time enough to actually show up. Not to mention the constant story changes as to why they are canceling.they call it reasons.to us it just sounds like lying.

In 2008, I hired JJM to do renovations of my master bathroom. The labor was guaranteed for 1 year as per the terms of their contract. In 2012, multiple ceramic tiles came off the shower wall completely clean, with no mortar or adhesive of any kind adhering to the back surface of the tile. I called JJM, who initially dismissed me with their one year contract reminder. Later, I brought the tile into their office, and before disclosing my name or background, asked one of the management staff to look at the tile, and asked if tile like this should ever come off the wall clean, to which the immediate answer was no.
I then explained that this was their work, and asked if they were still willing to stand behind their work as per the contract. They sent out one of their tile masons, who reviewed the bathroom and said that the entire job would have to be redone. JJM stopped returning my calls shortly afterwards. I have since sent photos of the work to HGTV's Mike Holmes via social media, who confirmed that the tiles should have been back buttered, and set into the notched mortar.
Full disclosure: I retracted a negative review on Angies List to allow JJM the opportunity to make an effort to make a bad situation somewhat better. I'm now out $8000, and saving to rebuild my bathroom again.
