CSIA Certified Massachusetts does not have a license for the chimney industry. What is currently acknowledged and accepted by the industry is the CSIA Credential. All of our lead technicians are Truly CSIA Trained and Certified. They annually attend multiple courses by the Chimney Safety Institute of America which include seminars on successful Chimney Sweeping, National Fire Protection Association Codes & International Residential Codes. They must pass the CSIA Certification Exams to earn this important credential.
Be wary of ANY Chimney company that does not charge for their time to perform a Visual Inspection or a Service Call Fee. They will surely make it up to you in other ways. Just like your doctor that you go to see for a routine checkup, legitimate chimney companies must charge a reasonable fee for a service call or an Inspection as it does cost money to operate and maintain a successful & professional service business. Like us, most companies will also deduct this fee from work that is needed if done on the same day.
Fireplace Flue Sweeps - Also known as chimney cleanings or fireplace cleanings. Fireplace chimney sweeps are done to remove flammable Creosote Deposits from the inside of your chimney and to assure the flues are obstruction free. The NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) code 211 says, Chimneys, fireplaces, and vents shall be inspected at least once a year for soundness, freedom from deposits, and correct clearances.
Oil or Gas Fuel Chimney Cleanings - Also known as furnace flue cleanings, chimney liner sweeps, or furnace chimney cleanings. Furnace chimney sweeps are primarily to remove acidic soot deposits, wildlife nesting for obstruction free assurance and Integrity Purposes. Your oil or gas burning units emit the products of combustion, i.e. carbon monoxide and soot deposits to the atmosphere through your furnace chimney flue.

Recently had a chimney sweep. Husband looked up chimney after they left and pulled down spider webs and large chunks of debris from the sides. Quoted us over 12k just for a liner and damper replacement and when I asked questions about the amounts and why the quote seemed to include doubles of services with the numbers and not an item by item breakdown they didn't respond.

We moved into or new home in October 2019. We had the chimney cleaned and inspected. With the 360 camera, the ACS team showed me cracks in the terra cotta and areas were it had broken off. They did not recommend using the fireplace over the winter, which made it clear why the previous owners had not used it in years. Once we started heating the house with oil over a pretty mild winter, and due to the high heating costs, we decided we needed to compliment the oil heat with another option. ACS provided us options for our house and for the price we were looking for.
We shopped around and ACS was consistently the best price for the work we were looking to have completed. In February 2020, they installed a new wood stove insert into our fireplace and it essentially heats our entire home! Oil costs went down approximately 75%. We did find an issue with the brand new heat stove which was rectified by the ACS team.
This year, we had the team come in and clean the the chimney. Always professional and punctual, working directly with Bonnie and Scott is a pleasure. We look forward to using them again in the future.

I thought that a local business would provide better service than a larger company when I hired Affordable Chimney Sweeps to install a pellet stove. WRONG! Seven+ months later it still is not fitted properly in my fireplace. They refuse to take responsibility for the sloppy installation, and in fact, have been arrogant in response to my requests for resolution to the problem. It is the worst service I have ever experienced. I wish I could give them a 0 rating

My family recently purchased a new home and quickly found out that we had a horrible leak with our fireplace. We had three chimney companies give quotes to line and rebuild it. Affordable Chimney Sweeps not only gave us the best price but they repaired the chimney in a timely fashion. From the office staff to the technicians, everyone was professional and attentive. Affordable Chimney Sweeps not only saved me a lot of money but they got the job done and I am very satisfied. I will be using this company again for cleanings!

Georgetown Chimney has been doing great service for me for years but they had closed for the season so I called Affordable Chimney Sweeps-Andover.never again. They charged $458.00 for 2 flues. He was in the house for 10 minutes at best with his broom and I had a mason in afterward to give an estimate for hearth repair and I was told the "chimney needs cleaning".creosote build up was hardly touched.
I said it was cleaned professionally an hour before! " the mason laughed. So I called "Affordable" back and they offered to send the sweep back in. He did come back. with attitude.even while he made an aggressive sales pitch to do more servicing. He put in another "exaustive" 5 minutes with the brush and he was done. I was basicly charged $458.00 for a job that took 15 minutes max on 2 tries. Ridiculous.
