Coming from the beautiful mountains of West Virginia, John Jarrell relocated as a young man to work in the construction area of the booming region of Coastal Carolina. He worked his way up and established himself as leader by his integrity and work ethic. More importantly he rose quickly through the ranks.
John was born and raised in West Virginia and moved east in his 20's for a job in construction that put him track to starting his own company in 1995. His attention to detail, integrity and work ethic is rooted in being raised by a strong country family in the beautiful mountains west of Beckley, West Virginia.
Every year, 250,000 homeowners are confronted by structural problems such as sinking foundations or cracked and buckling floors and walls. Cracks, buckling, bowing, sinking and other defects are commonly caused by the foundation settling, unstable or shifting soil, environmental conditions or even poor landscaping design.
Our expertise is foundations, it is all we do. We believe it is best to be straight up and use 3rd party engineers in order to protect our client's interests. In house engineers could be swayed on the bottom line, not at FSI. It is best to have outside, non-proprietary experts to check and guarantee our services.

I hired FSI to stabilize my chimney which was separating from the house. They came highly recommended. Due to their "repair" efforts I incurred new additional damage to my house and the chimney was still not completely flush against the outside wall. Roofing damaged caused by the chimney moving against the roofing line as well as damage to the fascia board at the peak.
My complaints were not taken with any type seriousness or urgency and I was told simply that was the best they could do. Not only am I left with an expensive ineffective chimney repair bill but also additional new unanticipated repair costs just to bring my home up to standards. FSI is a nightmare for me.

I was driving behind this guys' truck while in Newport News today when the guy in the passenger seat threw trash out the window. Disgusting behavior, can't imagine what their work practices are like! I wouldn't trust them with anything of mine. Integrity is an important part of any life and especially business.

The FSI crew that worked on our home caused damage due to their lack of attention and rush to complete the job. Our circa 1833 home needed the original wood sill plate replaced along the front of the house. It was notched and peg construction as the guys found out when they took out the left side. When they went to remove the right side they struggled for hours which lead them to yank and pound out of anger.
During that process they pulled the wall of the home away from the sill plate and floor joists. Then they had the nerve to attempt to call it a day and leave with my house out of whack. My front door would not even close and now the whole structure was compromised. Their solution was to hit the wall from the outside with a sledge hammer to try and get the door to close.
So what happened was they "thought" they had cut loose all the wooden pegs holding it in but they did not and they spent hours yanking on it and swearing and getting madder and madder till they caused damage. The only reason I can even give them one star is that Steve and Jon did their best after the fact to appease us. But the damage was done and it was due to the negligence of the crew.
Our contract said that their "could " be damage such as plaster cracks or windows sticking due to lifting the house a few inches so the work could be performed. But the damage they caused was unacceptable and only due to a crew that had no patience and appeared to hate their job. I wont even go into the unprofessional behavior I experienced for 2 weeks.
