This place is awesome, they took really good care of me and were quick and helpful. 3rd generation owner Kristen was seriously a bright spot in trying to get something super quickly and she was soooo friendly. Really appreciated her! Shop local y'all!

Yes, there's a Lady in there, I don't Remember her name, but I wish we have a bunch of Lady's like her. She's awesome, very polite, she knows have to communicate with people in general. She's really amazing. Thanks so much.

Generally good service by the employees, I think. They try. Limited or just bad Service by the owner or manager. Ok, if you have an emergency plumbing issue, but don't waste your time if you want paint, for example. Overpriced. Customer service very low priority. I wrote this several years ago. Since then, service has vastly improved and I love shopping here

Some prices may be kind of high on some items but I swear to you this is the only place you get through customer service from each employee Lowe's, The Home Depot or any other hardware store never treat you the way you're treated here

Everytime we go into this hardware store it never fails that we are followed around the store like "Hurry up and buy!" Staff is rude af and their stuff is so old the clear packaging is yellow. They are overpriced and rude. They make it worth the drive to Home Depot or Lowes, this is always my last resort place for ANYTHING! You get a much better deal and price down the street at the resale shops!

My new go to hardware store. Went all over town looking for piping and someone to cut it down to size. Box stores were friendly but didn't have what I needed, specialty pipe stores were annoyed and refused to cut down to size. Stokes was awesome. They went out of there way to not only help me with the pipe and cut it to size, but also ensured it was exactly what I needed and would fix my problem. Excellent service and love that it's a community hardware store serving the near north side for 60 years. Never going anywhere else.

I can't believe I've lived in this neighborhood over 4 years without knowing Stokes is less than a mile away. Every time we needed something, we'd truck it out to a big box store, killing a few hours of our day. Last weekend, it happened again in the middle of a DIY project. We were short a piece of sheet metal. Knowing Ace wouldn't have that, I looked on my phone and found Stokes.

We didn't see any reviews, so I called ahead to make sure they were open and they had what we needed. Sure enough, they were open and have been for over 50 years! The place is huge inside and they carry everything from carpentry to plumbing materials. They had exactly what we needed and even ground down the metal shards for us. This is the kind of top notch service you get from a small family owned business. Top notch customer service -- we will certainly be back!
