Absolutely terrible experience today. Honestly couldn't believe that customer service at a small business could be this bad. I went in looking for a bag for my lawnmower. As I walked in the man kind of popped his head up and I asked where I could find a bag at. He pointed me downstairs. As I walked down the stairs there was 3 employees basically ragging on an old man for buying his equipment elsewhere, saying that's why you get for not buying from Ed's. Laughing at him for not replacing his spark plugs, blah blah blah.
I think some of it went over the old guys head, but it was nasty and basically the employees gang up in this guy for there own entertainment. Meanwhile in my 5 minutes standing there not one employee said high or I'll be right with you. Literally nothing. So I decide to head back upstairs to see if anyone else might be available. Walked into the showroom to look around and the employee that originally pointed me downstairs asked if I had been helped and if I found everything ok.
I said nope, and that nobody down stairs had greeted me. This was probably one of the weirdest interactions I had ever had after that. Instead of saying sorry about that. He just kept walking into another room and ignored me. He definitely heard me loud and clear and chose to continue with the awful service. I've been in Milwaukie most of my life and never checked out ED's before. I will never ever ever refer anyone to your business. Nasty service and people. If there was anyway to put a lower score I would.

A real find, a gem for the PDX area. Outstanding service and knowledge from this mower repair service. Dealing both with me and my dad directly as we were traveling. didn't miss a beat. I felt their pricing was quite fair and they walked me through each item to ensure I was comfortable with all. I highly recommend them and will be going again when needed.

Before you buy or get service, go to Ed's. I bought a tractor mower from Grant at Ed's last year, and the information I received to compare their models, and even what other sellers had (incl. HD and Lowe's) was excellent. Since, I've taken a couple other power tools to them when I needed small engine work done - I didn't winterize properly (I'm a newbie with anything more than a simple lawnmower) and the carbs on both needed cleaning.
Their shop guys talked to me about the type of equipment I was bringing in, what might be needed, what the expected cost would be, etc. - really good info for someone who doesn't know much in this area. When I got my equipment back, it was a lot cleaner than when I dropped it off, blade sharpened on a brush cutter - way beyond what I expected for the engine work I paid for.
You may love the big box guys or Stark Bros in Portland area. But go by Ed's - I think you'll find, as I did, that superior knowledge and service beat saving a couple bucks any day for power tools.

We needed a tune up for our underused Toro and I'd read good things about Ed's. They returned our mower a week or so later and after a few uses it began discharging oil. We took it back after calling first and they had it back to us within a week. They barely charged us for a new oil filter and did so with a smile. I recommend this shop- they are capable and courteous and very reasonably priced.

There are times when you need help asap. Needed to cut my hedges but, After I broke my pull rope on the trimmer. Called around and due to time of year, everyone mentioned busy. These guys offered to work it in schedule, if I removed cover and brought the cover only they could fix it on the spot. While I waited. Looked at it only 3 screws, removed it in few minutes. Stopped by and that's what they did. Fixed. Now my pull work fixed and hedges are trimmed. Will be back.

Great customer service and they are very honest. I bought a Toro from them based on their recommendation for my small landscaping business and could not be happier. They also filled it with gas, which I thought was a great service that no other store would likely do. I will be sticking with Ed's from now on.

If you value good service more than cheapest item, this place is for you. Always take care of me and gets job done well! update Decided to stop by on the way to home depot and see if they could come close to the price on a new lawn mower. I was amazed that I was able to get a Toro with all the features I wanted for cheaper than the home depot items. I also was able to talk to someone who actually had knowledge (in great abundance) of the products and did not try to up sell me.

It's the best small engine equipment store I've found in this region. Good brands and the service department has always come through for my needs. I haven't bought all my small engine equipment at Ed's but I'd have been better off if I had. Nice displays, organized, and friendly. Sometimes there is a wait time to get service if there are 3 customers at one time. Can't be too critical of the waiting factor. I've learned that to get fast service often amounts to buying from someone who doesn't know what they are selling. No more Costco Pressure washers for me.
