Over four decades ago, Stephen B. Ballard laid the foundation for a career in construction on familiar ground: in his own house. Working from home, Stephen and his sister Brenda began S.B. Ballard Construction Company by completing small projects for the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority and minor renovations for their neighbors.
In association with more than 250 local partnerships, ORPHANetwork serves more than 20,000 orphaned and vulnerable children in Nicaragua. Through investors such as S.B. Ballard, ORPHANetwork is able to provide children a daily life-changing nourishing meal. Beyond a healthy meal, children receive health assessments, medications and hygiene training to conquer malnourishment and they are gaining skills for future jobs through after school education.SBBCC is proud to work with Luke and Stephanie Hillier in supporting the ORPHANetwork for the past ten years.
At SBBCC, we follow all rules and recommendations from the U.S. Green Building Council and other groups that encourage green practices in construction by using renewable resources when possible to improve a building's performance and keep costs down.
