Our 1st product was an aluminum chimney cover manufactured in Mr. Hisey's garage. HY-C is still owned by the family; currently the 3rd and 4th generations are working within the business. Today the facilities have expanded from the garage to an entire city block just N of downtown Saint Louis, plus an auxiliary warehouse in S Saint Louis.

After many years of owning woodburning stoves to heat our 2400 sqft home and always being disappointed with them, we finally decided to buy a wood furnace. So after looking at what seemed like hundreds of manufacturer's models, we settled on a Fire Chief because of all the raving good reviews we read about their reliability, efficiency, ease of use, durability and the wonderful customer service that backs them.
And boy they weren't wrong about any of it. We have never been happier. First, it was a cinch to install. Took less than a day to integrate it into our existing duct sytem. And once it was installed and fired up it took less than an hour to warm the entire house. Every corner, nook and cranny from one end of our home to the other was evenly warmed.
No more hot or cold spots. Like a warm blanket the heat envelopes our home making it so cozy and comfortable even on the bitterest of cold days with single digit or below zero temps and on any given day the temps inside hover between 75* - 80* with little to no effort and hardly an armload of wood in the furnace loaded every 3 to 4hours. This furnace is so easy to use! Frontloading into a nice large firebox through the amply sized fuel door at waist height is absolutely no problem at all.
And with the dual damper feature on the front of the furnace, it is super easy to adjust the fire for the optimum burn rate and comfort level. This furnace has all the bells and whistles.damper fan for temperature control, circulation fan for moving the heat throughout the home, adjustable cast iron grate floor and a really nice ash collection tray with an access door for easy no mess clean outs.
I LOVE this furnace. Durable, built very well, nice looking and extremely reliable. We have had it for going on 3 years now with no major problems. It burns 24 hours a day from the first day of October till the end of March or middle of April. And efficient?! Oh yes! This furnace will squeeze every ounce of heat out of every log, leaving nearly nothing behind.
We typically only use 7 to 9 cords of wood depending on the weather per winter. So with all that said, I will finish by giving high praises to the Technical Support Customer Service department. I simply cannot say enough good things about the broad scope of their knowledge, kindness, generosity, and patience. They are eager to please and quick to help, go beyond the call of duty and do whatever they can to insure the safety, and satisfaction of their customers. I LOVE this company. Thank you, Hy-C Company for all you do and have done for us.
